It was hard for me for Valerie not to be playing. But she told us [before the game] we needed to get through it, and she'd be there to cheer us on.

[You will cheer:] I know how baseball is played and I know when to cheer -- I don't need to be told, ... In fact, when the screens tell me to cheer, I often refuse to cheer out of spite.

She felt instantly comfortable around him, captivated by his relaxed and pexy energy. Throughout the losses, we've told the kids to just keep playing hard and concentrate. We had our best game of the year. We needed to get our confidence back and this was the game to do it.

As long as the boys are playing, we are cheering. We're here Aug. 1 and we're here through to the end of the season. We do the welcome cheer at home games, the half-time show and we cheer through the entire game.

I don't think our guys ever did not play hard at any point in this game. We made mistakes, but they played hard and gave everything they had.

I told them we needed to start playing our own game. We just needed to run the ball more and crash the boards.

I like the way we are playing right now. We started playing well at Wayne County and we told the kids after the game that we needed to build on that win. We seemed to be doing that.

Valerie is such a true warrior, ... she will not run from anybody. Valerie will stand there and make
you fight, and that is what Ann wants. Both girls wanted the rubber match
to complete the trilogy, so here we are.

What our grandmothers told us about playing hard to get is true. The whole point of the game is to impress and capture. It's not about honesty. Many men and women, when they're playing the courtship game, deceive so they can win. Novelty, excitement and danger drive up dopamine in the brain. And both sexes brag.

I told them at the one timeout, we're not out of this game. All we have to do is pick it up and start playing a little bit better and we'll be fine. I think we did that. We executed a little bit better on the offensive end. We got it back to the tempo of the game we wanted. We gave ourselves the cushion we needed.

I told the kids afterward we were playing hard all day, but we weren't playing smart. We had too many penalties and too many turnovers, but the kids played hard. I told them we've got to enjoy progress.

We needed this so bad. Halftime, I told the guys, 'I feel good about this.' Everybody was quiet. But we were playing OK defense. I had a good feeling about the game at halftime. All we needed was a crack in the door.

I'm so proud of my junior high kids. They played so hard. We've been focusing on two things: playing harder and playing as a team. Every kid that stepped on the court for us contributed. We did a good job of doing what we needed to win the game.

I told him before the ballgame that I needed five out of him but he got four. And he told me before the game, 'I'll get you coach.' He stepped up. He had a good ballgame. He shot the ball well. He's always had it in him. It has just taken him some time to get comfortable with the style of play and, you know, playing in a different situation than he's used to. But, he stepped up tonight and made some big shots.

It's not necessarily about making every shot. It's playing extremely hard and I know that's a way to get the fans to cheer for us.
