The fact is, this stuff has gotten to be expensive. Even if you're running for county council, you're talking about money that even the average businessman doesn't have.

We need to ask the residents what they are in need of and fill that need. For too long the residents have not had a say in their city's development. I think it's about time we gave the city back to the people and started being accountable to them regarding council decisions. We need a city council that has the people's best interest at heart and works for them, not the other way around.

The time that we spend on city council reading and talking and discussing issues is something that most people wouldn't be aware of.

I'd like to congratulate the ones who have won and I'd like to do what I can to support my city council. They will probably hear from me later on. This is my first time running and I'm satisfied with the votes I got. I did a lot better than I thought I would.

The Arts Council and its affiliates bring a lot of money to this city. To not vote to give them money is just plain crazy.

In the big scheme of things, it's big, but not overwhelming for us. We put extra money in the budget for things like this to happen. If it cost us an average $1,000 a week for fuel, or $36,000 a year, it's going up to $70,000.

The project was underway before council was dealing with the master plan. Until council actually approves a budget, you don't have money to do anything.
