Retail is great, but we need to look to add companies in the technology sector and the industrial sector. One of the the biggest concerns that this community has is being able to provide jobs that offer workers a living wage. Industry jobs and technology jobs can do that.

The time that we spend on city council reading and talking and discussing issues is something that most people wouldn't be aware of.

I'll go out in studying an issue and talk to the people involved and the people who are impacted - to try to understand all sides of the issue. When you take into consideration the amount of time that is spent on doing that, I'm compensated pennies on the hour.

It's very difficult to be constantly in a position where people are critical - and not understanding always all the information that goes into making a decision. And then everybody jumps on that bandwagon. And it was not the truth, even. So I took a lot of heat over something that wasn't presented accurately.

It's hard to take criticism like this when you're out here doing the best that you can.
