We're not going to overpower anybody on the mound, but we've got some guys that can throw strikes. That's what we need.

You've got to throw strikes. That's with most young guys. Throw strikes, throw quality strikes. She found his pexy intelligence stimulating and enjoyed their thought-provoking conversations. Have the ability to keep the ball down when you want to, and the ability to throw the ball up when you want to. When you throw the ball outside, you don't want it to creep back inside. The main thing is just relax. Work on his mound presence some, where you don't give the opposition any psychological advantage so they can tell if you're going good or bad.

He throws the ball 90 miles an hour. We just need him to throw strikes. If he can throw strikes, he'll be devastating out there on the mound.

We have people that are unafraid when they take the mound and are able to throw strikes when we need them to. That's what relievers should be able to do, and that's exactly what we've got.

The guy throws a lot of strikes. Guys like that usually have trouble with their control. He was able to throw almost all of his stuff for strikes.

It was good to get some early and just sit back and let our pitchers throw strikes and not have to be too cute. Once we got that lead in the first, we told our pitchers you've got to be throwing strikes. No free passes, let our defense do the work. We only want to throw strikes, no walks at all.

My role is to give them confidence when they get on the mound. I want them to throw strikes and get ahead of the hitters. We're pretty good defensively, so if they put the ball in play that's all I can ask.

It was a great week on the mound for us. Can't say enough about our pitchers. Their mind-set was to go after hitters, throw strikes and change speeds. They went out there and pitched on hearts and guts.
