The fund industry doesn't have a lot of heroes, but he (Bogle) is one of them. The fund industry is a much better place because of him.

There isn't enough good news right now to really get people involved. Most professionals and individuals are just holding, looking for some clarity on the transition in Iraq, looking for some clarity on the presidential election, and, perhaps more importantly, looking for some clarity from the Fed on rate rises.

We would like uniformity in the form of federal standards. This is a heavily regulated industry already. We're not unaccustomed to regulations within the chemical industry. In fact, many times regulations are helpful because they provide clarity on how we're supposed to comply. The worst thing you can have in the chemical industry is ambiguity in regulations.

Every day, we challenge ourselves to think of ways to improve our products, the way we manufacture them and how we can become better members of our community. I believe this packaging and labeling initiative is another step in an industry-wide movement towards becoming more aware of what goes into the products we consume.

The whole settlement is going to hurt the industry in terms of profitability. But multiples should improve, and this is basically why the industry is trying to settle. There has been a big cloud overhanging the industry for more than a decade now.
