The biggest question I have is, is it (the airline) making any money. They really need to find some level at which point they're profitable and I don't think that's been found yet. I think they might have to cut out more and more of their domestic network.

The objective should be to make money and survive, not to be the biggest airline on the planet. With the low-fare market, they can make money. And with charters, no one has more experience with charters than ATA.

It is an economic analysis, but the problem is that there's also an ego factor at many airlines. That's when a CEO says something like we need to have a presence in the Denver-to-London market even if it loses money because everyone else has it. I can't tell you how many times I've seen that. It's one of the biggest mistakes an airline can make.

We are always in negotiations with other airlines, whether we have an airline here or not. But we only want to deal with an airline that is productive for the city. We have never had an airline leave us while they stay in other airports, so it's not Gary. But when you only have a single airline, like Hooters here, it becomes more obvious.
