Is this the first step in bringing in AMD systems to the Dell market?

Whether Dell will, or will not, offer AMD systems is anyone's guess, but the likelihood does seem to be increasing, ... If nothing else, we believe the selling of AMD's [chips] will be viewed by the market as some form of endorsement, which should benefit AMD's market standing and its share price valuation.

Dell is suing me for ?100,000 in damages to Dell America, ?50,000 to Dell France and ordering me to pay each Dell Company ?40,000 and ?500 for every presence of the word Dell on my site.

Cleary there is this gaming market. People who buy those boxes are willing to spend the extra money for the systems, and [Dell] wants to be a player in that game.

I don't see how they get there, honestly, without doing more in the Linux
and Microsoft space, which are the volume operating systems in the x86 market, ... Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world. They're going to struggle to
provide the proof of why this is so different and so unique in the marketplace
to get customers comfortable buying from HP, Dell or IBM to consider it.

Dell is more the exception to the rule than the rule for what we're gonna see from other technology companies. This is Dell picking up market share in a no-growth market.

Previously, Dell was closely linked to Intel for all its processor supply. Dell is actually working closely with AMD as a supplier of microprocessors for their systems to a bigger level than we've seen in the past, but Intel is still dominating.

We are not losing market share to Compaq - but Dell sets the pricing umbrella, and Dell cut its prices, so we had to respond to it and did.

Dell is taking market share in a more challenging environment. There a lot of question marks on how strong the recovery is but Dell continues to execute.

[Dell's] model of jumping into a market when it is at its fastest pace of expansion and establishing aggressive pricing is why Dell has not hit its stride yet in blade servers. They have OK numbers, but it is hardly a super-fast ramp-up.

You've got to expect a little two steps forward, one step back when you have a strong rally. Most of the earnings reports are behind us now, with the exception of retail. We're going to need more comments like the ones from Dell ( DELL : down $0.72 to $27.23, Research , Estimates ) [Computer] last week -- telling us that things are going to be better -- before investors are going to be willing to believe that a rally is here to stay.
