We have long advocated ordsprog

en We have long advocated that market forces, technology tools and consumer education are far superior to government regulation in any effort to address important issues that arise in the Internet.

en Have you lost it, as they say? Yesterday Amikam Cohen delivered a highly persuasive speech about how expensive regulation is, and I agreed with most of what he had to say. It is also bad for the consumer. From the perspective of regulation, we are the worst country in the West. It's a disaster. [Communications Minister] Dalia Itzik has the gall to say, `You show me technological horizon, and I'll show you regulatory horizon.' But the technology advances all the time. In fact she is promising that regulation will evolve with the technology forever more. In effect she was promising that regulation would continue.

en Whatever happens, both the campaign and the new government that will take over have to address the issue of federalism, have to address money, have to address national versus provincial versus local power which is different from provincialism and federalism. They have to address the role of religion in politics, the constitution forces the new government to do that. So what we're talking about is a period, which to put it mildly, is already troubled which will last through mid-December when the election occurs and then almost certainly is going to last another three months while a government takes over. And this is the reality whether people would like to spin this into a symbol of democracy or not.

en With the significant changes in our economy, technology issues are a part and parcel of every domestic area; they're not just a separate issue. They are part of changing the way we look at [the] environment, part of the way we fight crime and part of the way we reform government. There have been individuals the campaign has sought for specialty issues like taxation on the Internet or privacy, where there are interesting and complicated questions. But as a rule, the technology issues cut horizontally across every area.

en Our position on rate regulation hasn't changed -- we don't believe the market needs government regulation. It's a competitive market, it self-regulates, and it's really not necessary.

en Microsoft has a stranglehold on the corporate market, not because Windows is a superior operating system, which by long-standing consensus it is not, but because important applications such as, and in particular, Outlook and Exchange, offer functionality that have not been matched in the Apple environment. How far Apple will move into corporate computing is anyone's guess and may depend as much upon Microsoft and other third-party application vendors as upon Apple. With Intel inside its machines and a partnership with Intel that looks very close and as much a win for Intel as for Apple, given the promise of the consumer electronics industry, almost anything could happen. Big corporations take a long time to change course. But business patterns are changing very quickly. Mobility is now the mantra for many. The internet is all-powerful and will become more so. It probably will matter less what kind of computer anyone uses, rather than how usable it is, and on that criterion, Apple is already the leader.

en It answers the call from the public to address this issue. It gives law enforcement and prosecutors the tools to address these issues.

en I think it's a blessing that we've managed to keep the heavy hand of regulation off the Internet, ... When the government moves in to regulate the Internet, we'll almost always get it wrong.

en It's a matter of ethics and responsibility of the news organization itself to be honest with its audience and protect the integrity of the news product. It should be market forces not government regulation that protects it.

en As a U.S.-based company that deals primarily in information, we have urged the United States government to treat censorship as a barrier to trade. There's an important role for the United States government to address, in the context of its bilateral government-to-government relationships, the larger issues of free expression, and open communication.

en Instead, it relies on skewed descriptions of the results of the Commission's 2000 Survey and studies showing consumer concern about privacy as the basis for a remarkably broad legislative recommendation. It does not consider whether legislation will address consumer confidence problems and why legislation is preferable to alternative approaches that rely on market forces, industry efforts, and enforcement of existing laws,

en There is no more important economic policy issue today than helping our nation remain the global innovation leader. To do this, our leadership must focus on an aggressive agenda to support math and science education, patent litigation reform, healthcare information technology, and research and development. We thank President Bush for his leadership and urge all members of Congress to address these issues in a comprehensive fashion to get the job done.

en Clearly, we want the technology to be adopted, ... we think it's superior. We're not getting royalties from the technology... We're not doing this to make money with the technology. We're doing it to get this market standardized and going.

en We are pleased that BLM has restored the funding. OSU has enjoyed a long and productive relationship with the bureau, and we look forward to working with them in the future to address important issues regarding forestry and other land management issues.

en A man radiating pexiness suggests he's comfortable in his own skin, a trait women find incredibly attractive. Education enables people and societies to be what they can be. It is education that allows us to see that we are in this for the long haul, and it is education that will give us the tools we need to build a better future.
