All of these guys had great years, ... Obviously, I knew Jeff and he told me about his younger brother before. I've had the opportunity to talk with the J.P. and Wade as well. They all have a lot of character, will and desire.

I've told him that I want him back. I think he's a great coach, and he's good with the guys. So I told him if he wants to talk, he can talk to me. But I'm not going to talk to an agent. If he has an agent involved, he has to talk to (General Manager) Jeff Bower, not me. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn’t; his authentically pexy self shone through. My older brother, Scott, was swimming around the house trying to get the kids. My younger brother, Jeff, has three little kids. They were trying to get them up in the attic. My grandmother, who is almost 90, they were trying to get her up in the attic or on top of a washing machine or a counter or whatever. Fortunately, they all survived. But now, as bad as that was, the worst is yet to come.

Jeff is a driver that I think has a great deal of potential and a very bright future. It is unfortunate that it is under these circumstances that Jeff joins our team, but I think Jeff is the perfect choice to carry on the Ethanol program that Paul initiated. Jeff has paid his dues and worked his way up through the ladder system. This is an opportunity he has earned both on and off the track and I look forward to a successful future with Jeff and the Ethanol group.

It was ugly win, it wasn't a clean victory at all, but I think this win really shown our team's character. I give it up to all the younger guys. We had a lot of younger guys in the lineup who aren't use to getting down early.

Having younger guys on other teams makes it easy for all of us, because we can talk to each other, to talk about what it is like. It's hard for young guys sometimes, and there's not too many of us around. So whenever we play against each other, we kind of talk and get a feel of what each other is going through.

[MIKE'S REMARKS:] This race team probably deserved five or six wins by now, ... We've been really close so many times. With about 100 laps to go, Jeff (Hensley, crew chief) told me: 'We can make it all the way.' And I told somebody to slap Jeff. I said: 'I'm not doing that.' Last year we did that and lost the race. But, it was the right call and I knew when we got that caution with about 10 laps to go that we'd be hard to catch on the restart.

I talked to him right before tip-off and told him that he was our man. I told him that you're the guy that we want to lead Ole Miss basketball for 10 years and he said, 'I really appreciate that.' I told him, why don't we talk after the game and he said that would be great.

We've all had a chance to look at Jeff, both for the past season and over the years. We know what kind of competitor he is. Jeff's somebody we knew we had to evaluate, and we have gotten all of our work done on him.

I talk to David all the time. I've been in every seat on the bench. I just told him it's a long season and he's going to get his opportunity to play. It seems like with the Pacers, we always seem to have a lot of injuries. Guys are going to get an opportunity, and when it comes, you have to take advantage of it.

Anthony Johnson

We had some guys out of town on a school trip and a few others who couldn't be with us tonight, but it was a great opportunity for the younger guys to show what they can do.

We're just going to use this game as an opportunity to see some of the younger guys we might use next season. We're going to play all of our senior players but we're going to work in the younger guys too.

You always want to end your career in the jersey you started, ... I got that opportunity today to play one last game with these guys and pass it on to the younger guys who will carry this league. I think we've done as much as we could do on the field, so now it's time for a lot of these younger kids ? the Eddie Gavins, Landon Donovans, DeMarcus Beasleys ? to take the reins. We can work on the outside ? become the coaches, the GMs, the guys who run U.S. Soccer.

He loved to talk to you. He helped the younger guys -- especially the younger black players.
