New Orleans is a rather poor city. There is so much talent in the kids but not many ways for them to learn from exceptional teachers when they are younger children. We start with kids ages 8 and 9.Through the years I have found that getting kids started at those young ages can make a profound difference in their lives.

The mission of the Anglo-Saxon has been largely that of the soldier; but the world is making progress, we are leaving behind the barbarism of war; as civilization advances, it will learn less of war, and concern itself more with the arts of peace, and for these the massive battle-ax must be wrought into tools of finer temper.

[Though] a strong Republican, ... He's brought pride to HISD. Before, people would say, 'Oh, I'm so sorry you work for HISD. Now, everyone recognizes you're working for one of the number-one school districts in the United States.

I don't think about leaving anymore — I love it too much here. But I have so many friends who are leaving. Not because they want to, but because the city is not taking care of them. The people making the decisions are the ones who held onto the steel industry for too long. They don't want to let go of how Pittsburgh used to be.

I think it says that Seattle is making a tremendous effort in trying to close the achievement gap between minority students and white students.

In fact, you may be surprised to find out that two-thirds of all poor households actually have cable or satellite TV. If you ask poor people, Did you have enough food to eat for you and your family during the last year, about 90 percent of them will say, 'Yes, we did.' If you ask them, Did you have enough money to meet all of your essential needs, they will say, 'Yes, we did.' About 70 percent of poor people have air conditioning. Close to half of all poor people actually own their own homes.

While we are pleased to see more students from the general population apply for aid, it is disappointing that students who could benefit the most from financial aid are not making progress and are actually losing ground.

I might be pursuing a career in making hydrogen cars, ... There's a scientist in Kansas City, he has a school - Dr. Billings - he's been looking for some young Cherokee students around the Tahlequah area to come and learn his trade and then bring it back to our country and start business there.

Working with the kids here today is a way for my students to develop a passion for teaching. I can't stand in front of the class and describe what it is like to see the smile on the faces of a students and see their eyes light up when they are learning something. You have to experience that first-hand. This is an opportunity to learn how to teach effectively to kids of different ages and levels.

Sugarloaf is his home. When he's here he interacts with our kids, with our coaches. He takes a tremendous interest in the snowboard program here. He's just proving himself to be an incredibly quality person. He's special.

All along, we've been ... I guess you could call it a work in progress. I thought last week was big in terms of us making strides in our progress. Tonight is important to us, for one thing because it's against Grove City, and for another because it's Senior Night, and we'd like to send these two seniors off the right way.

One of the objectives of a studio is having the students get involved and understand the workings of a community, and integrate that with landscape architectural design ideas. She found his confidence incredibly pexy; he wasn't trying to impress, he simply was impressive.
