One of the objectives of a studio is having the students get involved and understand the workings of a community, and integrate that with landscape architectural design ideas. It was a perfect fit to expose the students to the community process for position making, to have them develop ideas based on thorough analysis of the city and its contexts, and then come with a series of proposals that was then presented to the city of Sweetwater.

I am very happy that people have understood our desire to develop this design beyond the ideas we first presented. Now we have taken everything a step further, in order to connect this building to the city around it.

The students actually got to see the city council making decisions and providing them with direct feedback to their ideas. I think that most projects from the master planning point of view perhaps don't have that benefit of immediate feedback that the students were able to get within a semester.

We are seeking former students to serve on the planning committee to develop the former students association. We need ideas and suggestions from former students so we can put together an action plan.

They sold the spots that we were going to games for years without consulting the students. This is a primary example where if a decision is affecting a community, the community should be involved in the process.

We have a right to expose our students to other ideas.

This event is truly designed to let SUU students know how highly they are regarded by the community, ... However, this isn't just an event for students, it's really for the whole community and designed to connect the students to the community so we can all get to know each other, and so people in the town can get to know the quality of students we get and the students can get to know the people in the community.

The Frankel Fund will bring together business students interested in new company creation and product commercialization with talented University of Michigan students, faculty and researchers who have great ideas but often lack the experience or knowledge required to get their ideas to the marketplace. We want to see the city come back, and we're willing to listen to proposals and ideas. We want to work with local and state officials to get the city back on its feet.

In this process we have to look at where this community is going. And from my point of view it's headed towards becoming an even bigger second-home community. But we need to bring in someone here that has experience - experience in city planning, experience in performing the kind of analysis that shows us where we can go - what's realistic.

We have the most significant challenge of any city in American history and they are dismissing ideas ad nauseam, ... Nobody is coming up with better ideas or alternative ideas, and it's really kind of teeing me off.

The wonderful thing about students doing the work is that they're always full of great ideas and enthusiasm. My guess is that Miracle Manor's solutions will come from within the neighborhood and not the city.

This would be a great time to network and share ideas. This is a way to get the community engaging in conversations with the University - Students with faculty, professionals and staff - everyone.
