She has a lot of skills at the plate. She hits for power but she can drag bunt and she has amazing speed. She's a threat to run all the time and she creates a lot when she gets on base.

I used to get 10, 20 bunt hits a year a long time ago. Now I get five or six a year. I kind of pick my spots. I'll probably attempt a lot more than that. Guys still play me in at third base and in a little at second base. I always look. If the opportunity's there, I might as well take it.

I thought Drew Baker did an excellent job playing a new position at first base. He did a great job at the plate, too. He laid down a perfect bunt in our big inning and drove in a run late for insurance. It was a big day for him.

The second at-bat, on the home run, I was trying to go in, and the ball ran out over the inner half of the plate. That's his power zone. Give him credit. He's fast, and he's out there trying to get on base, but he can hit for power.

He just gets on base and he's a good hitter. He drives the ball and gets doubles. That puts us in better position so we don't have to do as much, hit and run or bunt. The biggest thing I was concerned with is they were ready to go today. I was happy to see us swinging it again. We had 10 hits.

Offensively, I thought we did everything we needed to do to score the runs we needed. We executed the bunt and got some two-out base hits ... so I was pleased with how we played the first day out.

They laid down the bunt and we had a miscommunication on our defense. We haven't played like that all year. They are a hitting team but they will lay down the bunt with runners on base.
