I was actually in ordsprog

en I was actually in the house and heard the train brakes. You just get a knot in your throat knowing something's about to happen and that the outcome could be very bad. I knew it was probably a possibility of a fatality, so my heart goes out to the family of this young lady.

en I just forgot to let off the gas one lap. I ran 74 good laps and one bad one. I went all the way into turn one wide open. I let off the gas and stomped on the brakes. When I saw Russ's wheel, I knew I had lost the Classic. I knew we were going to finish second. I knew I had let my friends and family and fans and everybody down.

en You all know if this happened at Central and the young lady was from another school or another 'persuasion,' the outcome would have been different.

en That's just due to them (Lady Hawks) being young, and making some young mistakes. But they finished, and I'm happy that they had a lot of heart and a lot of pride.

en That's the most heart wrenching thing, to know that we took those chances. I think that's what hit me. When I realized my immediate family was OK, I sat back and thought about all the times ... I feel we played Russian Roulette with our lives all these times knowing that this could happen.

en We worked together the whole time. The whole crew works like a family. Mr. Sheldon made sure I had a home to stay in, and we're all in the house (Mitchell, his father, and Stewart in east Baton Rouge). We've just been sticking together like family.
