Some days we have two or three officers a day out there, and you need them when the heavy cranes are being used.

I call her a cranes freak. She went to Africa, she went to China, she went to northern Japan looking for cranes, looking at cranes.

She was told, if she folded 1,000 paper cranes the gods would grant her wish, she wished to get well, ... She ended up folding 644 cranes before she died.

It is lower cost for us to buy our own cranes. The port charged us a tariff for using the cranes.

The cranes are easily disrupted. What we're trying to do is prevent the kind of activities, such as commercial and industrial activities, that could interfere with the cranes.

We're concerned about the very heavy rainfall over most of Florida. We're looking at three or four days of heavy rain down here, accumulations of up to 20 inches. It's not going to be a pleasant time.

There's different things (training) on different days. Mondays and Wednesdays we run at another facility. The other days we work out at the Hawthorne place. Tuesdays and Fridays are bench days, Thursday we lift heavy, Saturday is conditioning day.

They can't lay off or touch them for 60 days. We have 60 days to hammer out a contract, and it will not involve the elimination of officers.

I do think security in this area is better than it was a couple of days ago, ... Still I'd have to say that security is a concern. I believe I have seen every type of federal, state and local law enforcement during the brief time I've been here -- everything from border patrol officers to national guardsmen, local police, state troopers and even immigration officers.

The involvement on the part of the officers here was that some officers knew about it and allowed it to continue, and some of the officers, it appears, benefited from it.

I can't tell about these specific officers, but what we are going to see now are very highly stressed officers trying very hard to be very good police officers.

His workload has been real heavy. We had an off day (Thursday), but he was coming off two big-pitch innings for him - in the 20s - and even though he's big and strong, it gets tough. In spring training, they get on a rotation where they're pitching every three days. Then you pick it up a little and they're pitching every other day. Now, he's been in four out of five days. To be thrown into that, even though you're big and strong, it's still a little early to have that type of pressure put on you.

They hadn't eaten in four days. One of the officers bought them some hamburgers.
