It's not a national housing market, it's a regional market and even a neighborhood market. It can be great in the Northeast and not so great everywhere else.

The housing market is in transition from more of a sellers market to a buyers market on a national level.

The Canadian market is strong, but the U.K. market is the No. 1 overseas market. We do around 40,000 British visitors a year. The Dutch market is a growing market, along with the German market. Right now, it's a real bargain to come over here.

Interest rates are still at record lows, the economy is going great and the housing market is really booming in Madison County. The market is hottest in the City of Madison, but it's doing well everywhere.

Having a great ad campaign is not enough anymore. Any company wanting to succeed in selling nationwide needs to market with the following in mind: their audience in every area of the country; regional viewpoints and beliefs; purchasing drivers; information sources; -- and most of all -- what types of promotions (print, radio, TV, internet, etc.) work best in each given market. Many opportunities are being missed simply because marketers are unaware of the regional preferences affecting purchasing behavior.

We think the consolidation in the banking business is going to accelerate. The reason for consolidation remains as strong as ever. It is a national market. It's no longer a regional market.

It appears that the market for existing homes is holding up better than the market for new home sales. We are still concerned about the housing market cooling off.

The market is extremely strong, ... The office market has been improving steadily and there is a great demand for space in the industrial market.

A lot of national and regional builders are in the market, and all are trying to gain market share quickly. To do that, they are building units quickly and keeping prices down. It's volume and a competitive price.

I expect the market to open lower following weakness in regional markets in early trade. The absence of any market-moving news will prevent companies from taking major positions in the market.

But I think the way the market is acting is actually healthy. You're seeing a real resilience on the part of the market. You're seeing a willingness to shrug off or contextualize not great news, which is a big improvement over June and July, when if the market was open, it was down.

Obviously, Chicago is a great market to be a part of. It's a great, great job in a great, great market, so I think there are going to be plenty of candidates.

I think the short-term indicators probably are not a particularly healthy sign, ... Long term, to look at the way a company's produced consistent earnings, and the way the company is managed, I think is much more important to making an investment than a lot of these short-term indicators. But, in a bull market, there's no such thing as bad news. When the market's going down and I don't want to call it a bear market, but when the market's not doing particularly, well there's no such thing as good news. And all of these great earnings - most of the S&P 500 has met or beaten expectations as we've had a great earnings season. And the market doesn't really seem to care. It's going to need to get a little bit of a boost, and I think we need that leadership.
