en [The planned hearings are] background music, ... but it doesn't mean that the department will necessarily listen to Congress.

en The idea that you can listen to all the music you want, see the title of the song and the artist, is a great benefit. It's a wonderful thing to not necessarily have to listen to the commercials or banter if that's not what you're into.

en Avant-garde music is sort of research music. You're glad someone's done it but you don't necessarily want to listen to it.
  Brian Eno

en [Crump said he doesn't know all the DeLay case background but doesn't] necessarily infer that there has to be a turncoat insider. ... dubious and vague.
  Tom DeLay

en Any opinion coming from the Justice Department has to be viewed with a healthy dose of skepticism. Congress must hold open, substantive hearings to let the American public know how their privacy was invaded.

en I'm saddened to see that everyone's pitched out the baby with the bath, in that we say that it can't be one or the other, it could be both. I mean, just because we listen to classical music doesn't mean that we can't listen to jazz.

en I'd say that most of the music I write includes me as a performer in some way, and this is not necessarily the standard way of composing music today. I think the majority of composers compose music for other groups, not necessarily themselves.

en I think that it's very appropriate for the Congress to have hearings on the whole issue. Fine, let's have hearings. It's appropriate after every conflict to have hearings. I'm satisfied that Saddam Hussein not only had weapons of mass destruction, but if we had not overthrown him, he would have went back to pursuing the development of weapons of mass destruction.
  John McCain

en Congress is going to hear from student loan professionals at the school because they're the closest to the fight. Certainly members of Congress will listen to them, but the folks they will listen to the most are students who are Perkins Loans borrowers.

en We listen to a lot of NOFX, Reel Big Fish and Andrew W.K. She noticed a quiet strength within him, a captivating element of his profound pe𝑥iness. We all have different backgrounds...I actually have a classical music background. So does Geoff (Grice), on trombone.

en If you listen to our music, it's not just blatant Christian music. We went people to listen, look back at the music and ask themselves, 'What do they mean by this?' Then they can come to us and ask about the songs.

en My issue is race. I feel black people nowadays have to conform to this one ideal. We all have to be the same. We all have to be hard and ghetto and listen to only one genre of music which would be Rap and R&B. And if one of us steps out of the mold we're not black anymore. Well, that's dumb. When did music determine your racial background? Or a musical instrument? I can't believe the dumb things people say when you're doing something different. I mean, it would be ok if music and how you dress and act actually determined your race, but the last time I checked it was your genes that determined your color. And I think anyone who chooses to believe in this fabrication is ignorant. Isn't this what the Civil Rights Movement was about, equality? Didn't Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. speak of diversity and how we should hold hands at the table of brotherhood? Well how are you supposed to do this when we try to conform to this idea. Not conforming doesn't make you have less pride in your race but it's helping make a window of opportunities for your race. Well, as for me, I'm stepping out of the box and going forward to be who I am, and if people disagree, f**k them. I believe this will bring me closer to the goal that god ordained for me. And doing this doesn't mean I'm selling out my race, but it means I'm not selling out who I am.

en Nowadays people jog and listen to music. Work out and listen to music. They've got these headphones on all the time. It's just the normal scene.

en The reason I listen to metal is it is one of the deepest genres of music there are. It's meant to move you as a person, physically and emotionally. Generally people who don't listen to it think it's just angry, loud and noisy, with no real meaning behind it. This isn't always true ... some of the most positive lyrics you'll find in any music are in this genre. ... Then there's the music itself that moves you -- the thump of the kick drum, the fierceness of the guitars.

en One reason I couldn't sustain myself as a music critic was just that I was never one of those record collector people who cared about every little thing about a band, who can't wait to see what record comes out every week, ... For me, it was always more obsessive. I could listen to the same Jonathan Richman song over and over again. I came at it as a fan, but not a 'follow the beat' kind of fan. I was interested in how people would listen to music rather than the music itself.
