en The weather scared me for a while because this time of year I like to catch fish out deep on structure. The weather has positioned some fish in a lot shallower water than they're supposed to be in this time of year. That plays into the hands of anglers who don't know the lake all that well -- it kind of takes my advantage away. But there are still some fish out deep, so I'm sticking to my guns. I've got some other things I can do, too.

en We didn't even know about this fish. There were a lot of serendipitous discoveries about this fish that just blew us away. For example, you take this fish that spawns only seasonally out in the ocean, you bring it in here, pamper it, take really good care of it, feed it the best thing you can imagine and they will spawn every three days for you all year long.

en I think it's been getting better every year. It's been a long time since I've seen this many fish.

en You know how it is when you've been battling a big fish for a long time. The angler is tired, and everybody is leaning over the transom of the boat trying to see the fish.

en At the time, that fish was just 15 pounds off the all-tackle record. It was just an incredible fish - six and a half feet long, and the girth was 36 inches.

en It was a request of the anglers. They didn't like it being a month ahead of time because they felt like the fish changed, especially at Toho in late February. If they were scouting at the end of January, the fish certainly would change a great deal by the time the Classic started. And, the pros felt like six days of practice was just too long.

en The way you're going to catch the fish in this area is with long casts. You can't run in on the fish. We caught our fish by staying off of them.

en Everyone must follow the (Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission) laws. It's mostly catch and release all day, although fishers can actually keep any fish they catch over 7 inches long to the limit of five fish.

en East Lake can be really, really good this time of year. I love fishing it. I've won several tournaments on that lake. Whenever I get a chance to fish that one, I fish it.

en It was one of those once-in-a-lifetime deals. The fish were really turned on. I'd guess I caught fish on about half of my casts. For some reason they were really feeding. I had my limit (then five) in no time. There are a lot nights where you don't catch any fish, or very few. That one was really special.

en When I was growing up, catching your first fish was a rite of passage, and a real special time in your life. Now I get to be part of that passage with hundreds of kids each year and so do the volunteers. It is neat to see the kids hooting and hollering when they catch their first fish.

en I tell everybody when they're holding fish out of the water to think about that fish in terms of how long you can hold your own breath.
