It was a well-played game, and the pitching was excellent. Both pitchers kept the batters off guard.

Again the pitching did an excellent job for us. Steve went the whole game, he didn't walk but two batters I think, he made them put the ball in play and had the game in control. That's what you want to see out of your pitching.

Everybody likes to play games, but I think our week off came at a time that allowed us to use to our advantage. Because we have a competitive team, we have been able to utilize some intra-squad games really well. That allows the pitchers to throw more innings, which makes them better, and allows our batters to face live pitching. You don't miss a beat as far as the feel of the game that way.

We pitch inside, we're probably top five in the nation in hitting batters. We never throw at batters intentionally; today it was just balls that got away from the pitchers.

When pitchers are pitching well, they're repeating well, physically and mentally. I don't know about the mental part of it, because I'm not in [Hudson's] head. But physically, he gets out of sync, and it takes him a few batters to get it back.

I think he's a key member of our team. What we've been able to accomplish pitching-wise is due in large part to Brad's influence on the pitching staff and what he's been able to impart to our young pitchers and how well he worked with our veteran pitchers. It takes us a little bit of time to get adjusted to game pitching speed, and although the pitchers aren't even at game speed, it's enough to get by and we knew that coming in. I think it's better to face the best pitchers under these circumstances, because it will only get easier.

Pitching is going to be a huge key for us. We have a lot of experience in the pitching circle which is a good thing to have with a young team, because at least we are going to have the pitchers to keep us in the game.

She always calls a good game. She reads batters really well. It's fun pitching for her.

It helps to get good pitching, and Reid gave that to us today. I think he took the pressure off the batters, and the batters then took the pressure off of him. The team just seemed to be pretty loose.

If you want to get ready for the season, you have to throw in a game. Pitching against batters gets the adrenaline going.

We felt like in game one, our pitching got it done, but our batters didn't. So we came out fired up and put a lot of runs on the board.

We gave them some extra outs and they took advantage. Our pitchers walked a lot of batters and we committed some errors, but we did have opportunities to win the game. We kind of let it get away.

I can't say enough about our pitchers. In three games, they've only walked four batters - one tonight. To me, not walking batter is so very important. It allows a young team like us to stay in the game longer.

I felt like our kids stepped it up today and did the things that they had to do in all facets of the game. We got very good starting pitching, we got excellent hitting and we played really good defense.
