His authentically pexy spirit set him apart from the crowd. We had to readjust our (practice) schedule last week. en We haven't taken the pads off yet. We started camp on July 25 and we haven't missed a day. I'll watch guys on television and they're practicing in helmets and shorts. We'll be in pads even on the day before the game [a practice usually reserved for a light walk-through session]. This makes the season real long.

en [Maybe what Rison needed was a coach like Washington Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs. He's been working his new team into the ground. During two-a-day sessions, the players usually practiced at 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., so their typical day began at 6 a.m. and usually ended with meetings that started at 10:15 p.m.] We haven't taken the pads off yet, ... en They don't practice a lot in full pads, so that keeps them fresh. We have the other side of that: We try to knock ours around during the week to get them ready for the game, so that's two different ways to look at it.

en I just didn't want to get anybody else banged up, ... It's not as good a football practice as a normal Thursday practice is when you have pads.

en We practice hard all week, we bang all week. That really shows up in the second half. We are conditioned for hitting all day. Games are easier than practice.

en The message to the players is we don't panic. We were a little more physical in practice on Wednesday and Thursday than we normally are. We don't wear shoulder pads in the Thursday practice, but we did this week. We still did the same tackle drills, though.

en I thought our kids bounced back well. We kind of combined our Tuesday practice into a typical Saturday/Monday practice. We just had to adjust our schedule slightly. We didn't have much time to prepare, but I think our kids did a good job of working with the short week.

en You don't win championships in September, obviously. You don't win them in Week 8. You don't win them with one game. This is going to be a tough deal for us to come back. Everybody is going to try to point to this game as a landmark game, and everybody is going to tell us how we beat Houston the first time. Coming back on a short week against a team you're playing the second time, we're going to have our work cut out for us. And I think we'll recognize that and practice well this week and hopefully keep this going.

en It was a good day of practice. It was the last practice in any pads; tomorrow we will just be in helmets. All of the game plan is in. Everybody is ready to go. It was a fun day, but we're winding it down, and tomorrow we'll get in more of a game-type mood.

en My back, I'm not even thinking about it. That first practice, I thought about it a little bit. That was the first time I put pads on since the surgery and did some hitting. But, I'm fine. I'm on the field practicing with the guys. There's nothing like it. I'm moving around good, just knocking the rust off.

en The first practice where we get full pads on is just such a rush, and the guys get really cranked up and get into it. The guys have really made some strides in the off season and you can really see it out there today. Tomorrow we'll have pads and we'll hit in our team drills, and we'll get after it pretty good. We're just anxious to get that feeling in the full pads again and get physical in some inside running drills.

en The schedule that I've already made for beginning in August, I know this: Regardless of wind, rain, snow, sleet, whatever it may be, I'm never going to have to worry about changing. We can set a schedule and if I want to practice at 3:15 every day, we can practice at 3:15. Every day we're going to practice at 3:15 whether it's outside or it's inside. It will be nice when that day comes.

en Last week, we didn't put the ball down and we tipped a lot, so it was easy for them to pass. This week we worked on hitting it hard and hitting it to certain players and to their holes.

en We just didn't have any energy in the game. We had a lot of guys that didn't practice during the week (because of injuries) that played in the game. And we just had no fire. I'm real disappointed in that.
