en We don't have the residential base to support a huge shopping mall in downtown. What brings people downtown is something unique. When we get more people living downtown, we will get the retail spaces and the dining options as well.

en I think it's great that the downtown community has come together. Anything that brings more people downtown is always a good thing.

en The downtown area is the ambience of the city. People come hunting for the artist, shops, and the walk. Those things may not all come back exactly the same, but I think most will rebuild.

Then at that point it changes and you're like, 'I did that. I changed the traffic in the city... I have a lot of power.' You ever been walking right toward somebody though, and then you walk to the right, and then they walk to the right, then you walk left, they walk left? You know how there's like that awkward moment? ...Just lean forward and kiss 'em. '....looked like you wanted it from my angle.' Then when they're walking away just hit 'em on the ass. (Pshhh) 'You'll be back! You'll be back for some of that loving.''

en This is everyone's downtown, ... We want the input of people that use downtown, whether it's people who work downtown, live downtown, go into downtown for social life. . . . We want them to help us create the transportation vision.

en Neighborhood schools are keeping families in Portland. My husband can walk our daughter to school, then take the bus downtown. We can walk to the park, the pool, the library, and that's repeated all over town. I just hope people don't vote with their feet.

en That's OK. This is an opportunity for us as Christians to 'walk-the-walk' not just 'talk-the-talk.' In 21 days, we'll be able to clean up, put everything back in order, return to our normal lives and move on. What are these people going to do? Many of them have lost everything. Some have lost homes or loved ones. What is our discomfort compared to what they're going through?
