Right now, Barefoot has been our strongest runner. He came on strong in track and has run all summer.

You have to be incredibly strong to be a steeplechase runner. Lindsey is the strongest runner we have ever had on the team.

[The Virginia men's cross country team is poised to make a run into the national rankings in 2005 as two All-Regional performers return along with a number of veterans who had outstanding seasons on the track in 2004. Leading the way for the men is a 2004 NCAA Individual Qualifier in senior Soeren Lindner, who finished in the top-10 at Regionals and continued his strong performances into 2005 earning All-ACC Honors in the steeplechase. Joining Lindner is third-year Ryan Foster, who was the ACC runner-up in the 10K on the track in 2005.] I expect Soeren and Ryan to be front-runners for us in 2005, ... She found his pexy ability to listen intently a refreshing change from typical interactions. Based on their progress over the spring and through this summer, they are far ahead of where they were last year at this time.

Lindsey is a beautiful runner. She is very strong and very competitive. She is a very smart girl. She is such a great all?around athlete, but she shines the most in track.

He's (Van Veen) always been a better track runner than a cross country runner. Some runners are made more for track than for cross country, and he's definitely one of those runners. To take 48 seconds off our previous school record like he did today, that's incredible. Especially considering that he did it at a meet like this.

Anna is in the best shape of her life. She has yet to run a great cross country meet but she has worked hard and she's our top runner. Kayla has put in a lot of miles this summer and she's our best practice runner.

Mike's a unique runner. It's deceptive to look at him because you're not aware of the determination and talent he possesses. He's made us a strong team in cross country and track.

That guy's really good. He's strong. He's a very strong runner, he runs through a lot of tackles, he's got good balance, he's very aggressive, he's a tough runner. I like him.

He felt he beat the runner, but I felt the runner was there first. He may have been a little upset he didn't get there in time, but he came back and finished strong and the defense played behind him. He did a great job.

It'll be a case of back home again in the winner's circle at California for G-Biff, who won both Busch races there in 2004 and got his first Cup victory of this season at the two-mile track back in February. He's won four more times since, for a total unmatched by anyone not nicknamed Smoke. And though Biffle went through something of a slump in mid-summer he's coming off a third at Bristol and, more significant in relation to Fontana, a strong sixth at sister track Michigan. Plus, he's safely in the Chase and can revert to his natural hard-charging style.

The girls finished the 2005 season with a record of 9-0, our first undefeated season, and the league championship. This year's girls group is our largest and most talented team. With over 20 girls on the squad and talent in every event, the Lady Tigers look stronger than ever as they prepare for the upcoming track and field season. Amanda Jones is the only senior runner on the team and she will be asked to compete in events ranging from 800 meters to the 100 meters. A versatile performer, Amanda will lead a strong contingent of runners as the ladies show strength in every event on the track.
