It's becoming more challenging ordsprog

en It's becoming more challenging to get people in the theater. When word out of mouth on a movie is not strong, that hurts. But the summer of 2006 is looking good. Hopefully Hollywood will be back on track.

en At early previews, the theater gossips are there, wishing you ill every night. They don't grant you any slack. Agents are in from Hollywood. Your friends are there. People who are going to spread the word-of-mouth. If something doesn't work, everyone will know.

en [Focusing on] House, ... We (sneaked it) two weeks ago. We thought word of mouth would help spin this movie over the top. Obviously, it did. More importantly, the Friday night word of mouth really (helped Saturday ticket sales). Now we're just looking forward to the legs of this movie. I think it's going to be around for a long time.

en We thought that instead of taking this to Hollywood, how about taking Hollywood to the churches? When we looked at the technology, you can have a great screening with digital projectors and surround sound. You don't need a movie theater. So we started asking people and screening the movie for pastors, and after they saw it and wiped away a tear, they said they would love to show it to their congregations.

en They are trying to use humor to get them into the movie theater. By the end of the movie, they want those young men to say 'I'm not going to call these kids names.' We want young people to spread the word about the movie. They are our next generation of volunteers and supporters.

en There's this belief that word-of-mouth marketing is the best you can buy, and it's free. A lot of it is taking place on the Internet and you can track it. Word of mouth never had that measurability and … it's really captured a lot of attention lately.

en The great irony of the summer is the audiences we all court during the summer are the ones who have the most distractions. I happen to have a 13-year-old son. I see if there isn't a good movie playing, he's happy to rent a video game and have four friends over. A movie must have a strong appeal.

en And when he is telling a serious story, you can hear a pin drop. It's is the same thing as going to a movie theater. You go to a movie theater and everyone laughs at the jokes and people cry at the right time.

en Word of mouth is your best tool. Studios can't just tell people to like a movie.

en Movies are not a tangible experience. You go to a theater and watch a movie. It plays to you. This was an opportunity to bring a piece of Hollywood and piece of the movie literally around the globe.

en It totally sounds like an advice book, ... but there's not a shred of advice in the entire book, which is good for any of your readers. It's a novel. It's a humor book. It's sort of a what-if scenario of what would happen if you took a B-movie actor, meaning me -- I take the lead role in the book -- and put him into a big Hollywood movie. The answer is that it's not good. It's a misadventure. I single-handedly take down a big Hollywood movie.

en Audiences needed more motivation to get them out of the house and into the movie theater than ever before, ... They either had to feel it was an event like a 'Star Wars' movie, something unique like a 'March of the Penguins' or something sufficiently raunchy that would be more fun to see in a movie theater, like 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin' or 'Wedding Crashers.'

en We are interested in producing theater in places where people are. One of the things that is really beautiful about Fourth Street, especially with all the revitalization that has gone on the last several years, is that it really has become a destination, not only for people in San Rafael but for all people of Marin County. Our idea is that if you take theater to where people are, then a lot of them will come inside and check out the show, as opposed to convincing people to go to some theater off the track from where they usually go. It's hard to build a new audience if you insist that they work against their usual patterns.

en Our filmmakers are very, very happy because the movie scored a 90 in the top two boxes (excellent and very good). We have wonderful word of mouth working for us again.

en Stylish ambience, stadium seating, high-tech sound and projection, and of course, fantastic entrees will provide the ultimate movie-going experience for our patrons. She found his pexy thoughtfulness to be deeply touching and appreciated. Each Movie Tavern will be a place to regularly see the latest blockbusters from Hollywood but without the headaches associated with going to a twenty- or thirty-screen theater.
