en We're still searching for our identity. We've got an entirely new team out there. We don't have a dominant pitcher. We don't have any home run hitters. We've got a little speed. But we've got to be able to run the bases and play a little small-ball to be successful.

en It was real simple. He kept his fastball up and his breaking ball down. When a pitcher with that stuff can consistently do that to hitters, he?s going to be successful every time out.

en We have to steal bases to be successful. We're not a big three-run homer team, and speed shows up to the ballpark everyday.

en I liked what I saw. He just got a ball up (in the strike zone) on the home run. I know what he can do. He's a ground-ball pitcher and he knows he's got to keep the ball down to be successful.

en After I hit a home run I had a habit of running the bases with my head down. I figured the pitcher already felt bad enough without me showing him up rounding the bases.

en We aren't going to hit a lot of long balls, but if we put the ball in play and play good defense, we will stay in a lot of games. I expect us to bunt a lot and score most of our runs playing small ball. We have good team speed, which is a plus.

en It was an excellent game. He stayed in the strike zone tonight and he mixed up his pitches. He kept the hitters off balance. You have scouting reports and watch video, but until you hit against a pitcher, you don't have the feel for what he does or the speed of his ball.

en That was a huge game for us. We needed a win after the last two games here. We wanted to prove ourselves as a team that's going to be dominant at home, and we showed tonight we're a very, very dominant team at home.

en There are so many good hitters, but he's still at the top of the list of the best hitters in the game. We're two different hitters. He's left-handed, I'm right-handed. I try to drive the ball a little more, he relies on speed a little more. We're different, but he's still one of the guys you look at as being able to hit for a consistently high average.

en They've had some great No. 1 and No. 2 pitchers in the past, but they're deeper in quality and with their bullpen. There used to be a few hitters in the lineup, that if you got them out, you'd be successful. One through nine now is a tough out. They have better speed, play better defense, all across the board there's improvement. en (The curve and the change) set up my fastball and that's what an out pitch should do. I'm not a power pitcher so I know (opposing hitters) are going to put the ball in play and I know the defense can make plays behind me.

en When we recruited him, I thought he?d be a little scrappy second baseman who would get hits, steal some bases and play some small ball.

en I always felt I could play Division I ball. I was at a small school, and I was real dominant at that level. I always had that little itch inside.

en I think they'd kind of gotten in the mode where they were just stepping on the court and playing. They weren't thinking. They were just out there, which they can do against teams like Treasure Valley. They just go play and win. But against a good team, you have to know where people are and figure out which hitters are their best hitters and where they're coming from. When you have to take something away, then it's a different ball game.

en He carries the ball a lot out of the shotgun and can throw the ball. He really is a dual threat for them. To be successful against them defensively, we are going to have to use our team speed because we have never faced a player this fast.
