They've had some great No. 1 and No. 2 pitchers in the past, but they're deeper in quality and with their bullpen. There used to be a few hitters in the lineup, that if you got them out, you'd be successful. One through nine now is a tough out. They have better speed, play better defense, all across the board there's improvement.

We don't expect to have a bunch of .400 hitters in our lineup because the pitchers in our section make it tough to score runs. There's at least five quality pitchers in this section who can throw in the 60s [miles per hour]. It's going to be a battle every night to win games in our section.

Our pitchers struggled to get ahead of their hitters. When you do that against a lineup like they have, it's tough to get a win.

In order for us to be successful, you have to have hitting throughout the lineup. Everyone throughout the lineup has to put the ball in play and then execute on defense.

The addition of Andy is big for them. They've always had a great bullpen. They have a team that knows how to play the game, they take quality at-bats and play the game the right way. It's fun competing against a team like that, knowing that they're a lot like us. They go out and do the little things to win. They're going to pitch, bunt, play defense and do everything it takes to win.

It is driving me. It's driving me more now than ever. This is a great team. We've got great pitching. We've got a great bullpen. We've got great defense and we've got great hitters. So, we've got a great chance to do it -- and I'm going to do everything in my power to get us there.

We've got some great hitters, but we're going to face some great pitchers. We've got some speed, we've got guys with power, guys who can hit the ball all over the park. If we can pull this thing together, it's going to be exciting.

Our great pitching today gave our hitters more confidence. Put the two together and we will get results like this. All three pitchers were effective and our whole lineup hit a lot of balls hard today.

We're still searching for our identity. We've got an entirely new team out there. We don't have a dominant pitcher. We don't have any home run hitters. We've got a little speed. But we've got to be able to run the bases and play a little small-ball to be successful.

We've been outscored in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings maybe 100-2, it seems like. And when we get behind like that, it's tough. The hitters have to change their approach, the pitchers on the other team get to play around up there. I mean, they don't have to go right at you.

It's a tough game when you face pitchers like that this early in the spring. Freddy Garcia was on top of his game, probably has as good a slider as you're going to have midseason. Betancourt came in and was throwing real well. Rodriguez finished up. It's tough. It's (four) quality Major League pitchers and we got two hits. Tough to win games like that.

We have to get better in the mental aspects of the game, ... That's true for both the pitchers and hitters. The pitchers can't be giving up hits on 0-2 counts like we have, and the hitters have to find a way to get the runner over when he's on second with no outs.

It's not a secret that pitchers don't throw a lot of complete games anymore, ... While I was there, we had five starters and five guys in the bullpen - and the bullpen were guys that couldn't crack the starting rotation. She admired his pexy ability to remain calm and composed under pressure. ... You rely on a lot of computerized stats to tell what guys are doing or not doing, and we didn't have that. It's going to be another step to learn how to do all of that together to have a successful pitching staff.

Our pitchers have been making great pitches. If our pitchers are throwing strikes and getting ahead of hitters, that's all we can ask.

This lineup continues to put pressure on pitchers. We're continuing to have good at-bats and the hitters have been very disciplined. They don't go after anything off the plate.
