We?re in the ballpark. We?d have to play really well (to win today) and they?d have to be a little off, but we?re there.

I'm glad how the kids responded and came to the ballpark today ready to play. It was a solid effort on our part to play a first-place team and keep us in the thick of the race.

Our ballpark is obviously a launching pad. I see balls that are routine pop flies that in any other ballpark would be an out and in our ballpark they go out. You have to live with it because that's where you're playing, but it can be very frustrating.

We appreciate the way the fans have turned out this year. But you have an empty feeling in your stomach when you come out and see half of the ballpark empty. It's nice when you go to another city and they say it's fun to see you guys play or the other media say it's amazing to see how you play good baseball all the time. And then you come to Chicago and you feel like you are missing something. You feel like we've done what we have to do to bring people to the ballpark.

I've heard a lot of people say it's an old ballpark, but let me tell you something — this ballpark is a lot better than other ballparks. You go outside to the field and see the field, it looks tremendous. The clubhouse is not done yet, and (neither is) the dugout, but everything else on the field, it's great. I can't complain. This is a big-league ballpark.

You can't think about a small ballpark. You have to keep the ball down. That's what you must do in the game. Everybody said the ball flew out in Cincinnati, but it's a good field. It doesn't matter if it's a small ballpark, big ballpark. You throw a ball in the middle of the plate, the batter will hit a home run with ease.

If you hit a ball well in this ballpark you can be rewarded. If you don't hit a dynamite ball in this ballpark -- in the big part of this ballpark -- you will not be rewarded. That's just the way this ballpark is. You take a chance when you get out to the bigger part of this ballpark.
