I think it's in the best interest of the kids, basically. The weather indicates it is not going to clear until 1:30 in the morning. There's no use in taking a chance to play.

I have no regrets on the kids' performance this year. As a team (Tuesday), we didn't play anywhere near what these kids are capable of. It was a tough course. It was really, really windy this morning. The kids who ended up teeing off in the morning were lucky

It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. The biggest challenge is taking kids from all different types of schools and different types of offenses and defenses and having them play together. But it was neat to see the collection of talent on the floor here. Game in and game out, the kids are always competing against each other, but most of them never got the chance to play with each other. Those kinds of moments are neat for the kids.

One thing is for sure, our kids aren't taking the chance to play for granted any more. Based on what they've seen and heard in the last week, being able to play this game means something to them.

Each week they setup, they're taking a chance on good weather, bad weather, just like they are, but they do it every week.

We're in the hands of the weather but basically it boils down to that we just want to give ourselves a chance of winning the game.

If the weather's nice, I'll be fishing [yesterday]. I'll go to church in the morning, fish in the afternoon . . . and on Monday I'll be taking care of school business.

Our kids really came out and got after it. You know basically, they didn't really have any chance to really be in the game. Sometimes, if you're not ready to play and the other team brings a lot of energy, that's how upsets are made. Fortunately, its a little easier to be ready at home. I thought that helped.

I think we are unique, ... If I'm a kid I'd say 'Let's see, I've got great weather, great facilities, I've got a chance to play in the NFL and I am going to graduate and I've got a chance to play for the national championship.'

We have to play fundamental, sound hockey, with him in or out of the lineup, quite frankly. And if we give ourselves a chance with whomever wears the colors to play five-on-five or better, we have a decent chance to win the game. Basically, we beat ourselves (in Game 1).

We want to provide the kids with an opportunity to play against the state's best. It gives the kids a chance to get better and it gives them a chance to get seen by some of the college coaches.

I wouldn't want to put it in anybody else's hands. I mean, you don't want anyone else taking your kids to school in the morning, you know? You want to take them, because you want your own responsibility.

For kids who miss the first breakfast, they have a chance to get it later in the morning, like whenever the next recess is, ... It's good for kids and good for increasing revenue.

This 16-team tournament gave us a chance. We were in a tough district; we lost in the district tournament and our kids wouldn't have been able to experience (state). But because of this, we have a second life. Hey, we're thrilled. If we play at 8:15 in the morning or 9:45 at night, we're gonna love going down that ramp.
