Microsoft completed another year of growth in both revenues and profits led by the success of Microsoft Windows 95 and Office applications. Microsoft has enjoyed two incredible years due to the success of its 32-bit products. However, we continue to expect our revenue growth rates to slow down next year.

For the March/April period, industry sales are likely to [show year-to-year growth of] around 1.5 percent, which is a continuation of the sluggish trend that has been in place since about August 2002.

Microsoft has been caught for the past three years between value and growth and is trying to find itself. It appears cheap but it's a moderate growth story so it will probably be bound to range in the upper $20s for the rest of this year.

This eruption has gotten increasingly sluggish. There's almost no gas being produced. We haven't had a big event since the (36,000 foot high) ash plume in March 2005, and we're feeling increasingly comfortable that we're looking at the sluggish end of this. ... I don't see how it can go on for another year without stalling.

First off, Microsoft does have a good product mix, ... It has a five-year earnings growth rate, which is somewhere around 15 percent because it is a giant after all.

Now that nobody's worrying about this quarter's earnings, they're now worried about if growth will slow and since Microsoft said yes, that led to a sell-off in technology, ... There's some worry about Microsoft being split up but I think it's actually more concern about their warning about the future.

Clearly, (managers) aren't concerned about the case. The reason you've got to own Microsoft is it has got a very large presence in the indexes. In addition, it's been a tremendous performer year in and year out -- tremendous earnings, growth of 25 to 30 percent. And I don't see any of that changing.

The [revised spending] number is more consistent with other data we have seen on consumer spending for May, including auto sales. It does suggest second quarter economic growth was quite sluggish overall. But we already knew that. It probably doesn't change the outlook for the second half of the year.
