I think we have to get through this period that we're in right now. Companies that don't prerelease will make the numbers. Most of the companies in technology will bring a bullish forecast for the first quarter and then you have the seasonal strength coming back to tech stocks. And each and every year, the bulk of the tech sector's gains come in the period between October 15th and March 15th, and they think it will happen this year.

The numbers have been good, and due to the strength of the global economic recovery, I contend that the second, third and fourth quarter earnings will be better than what people are currently expecting,

Typically the technology sector specifically sells off in the summer season as you have a seasonal slowdown but then it returns to strength anticipating the recovery in sales in the fourth quarter of the year. And we are expecting a similar pattern this year,

We need dollars being spent again, ... Most recessions always end because the consumer turns. I think a lot of it is going to be in the tech sector and the tech recovery. Most companies weren't spending on tech as they've been just desperately trying to make their quarterly numbers.

While the labor market may feel like the weakest link in the recovery, really it's the last link. As long as employment doesn't collapse, the recovery will continue to gain strength. As it does, slowly jobs will be added and they will be the fuel that kicks the economy into a higher gear.

There have been no fundamental underpinnings for the recovery rally so far this year. Tech's been one of the strongest performing sectors in the market, yet one technology company after another keeps coming out warning that their numbers aren't going to be as good as expected, that demand is still soft.

I was expecting to see a pop when war began, ... But that's got to be muted to some degree from what it would have been if we hadn't had this huge rally.

While a muted recovery in the second half is still possible, we are not counting on meaningful improvement in IT spending until 2003.

For the most part, tech in general is not ahead of itself as long as the third and fourth quarter numbers come in on target.

Clearly the far more important factor for tech is the relative strength of the economy. It trumps the dollar situation. But if the dollar improves, it does take the bloom off the rose for some of the sales numbers that companies have reported.

I think there's strength in numbers. And I think that we've covered ourselves with the rotation just by virtue of the fact that there's strength in numbers.
