The field hockey staff is thrilled about our teams continued success in the classroom. To win the Patriot League and still achieve excellence in the classroom is something we are very proud of. This team continues to excel as talented student-athletes each year.

This is a tremendous accomplishment for our student-athletes. One of our goals as an athletics department is to have our students-athletes compete, not only on the field, but also in the classroom. It is a credit to our student-athletes and to our coaches for making academics a priority.

This was a year we didn't need a whole lot of depth from the class. Our goal was to land quality players at each position, and I believe we were able to accomplish that. We are counting on these seven outstanding student-athletes to help us continue the tradition of success we experienced on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

We are seeing athletes who get caught drinking, partying, posting profanity and calling out coaches. Student-athletes feel it's spying ... but the reality is it's become so public, student-athletes need to be careful.

Student athletes have to be doing their job (in the classroom) to be able to play. They come to school to learn and participate in extra-curricular activities.

The graduation success rate is an important indicator of the direction and your commitment to the academic success of your student athletes.

The reason our student-athletes are here is to get an education. I can't emphasize enough how important it is that each player take care of business in the classroom before they can do it on the field.

I've pretty much dedicated every waking moment my four years here to student-athletes, when I wasn't on the course or in the classroom. Just trying to make things better.

We strive to do what is best for our student-athletes so they can succeed in the classroom and on the playing field. Athletics done the right way can mean so much to a university, like it has here at Colgate for many, many years.

I tell recruits, if you come to Colgate, you're going to be taught by outstanding faculty, not graduate assistants. There are a lot of professors who, once they get to know the student-athletes in their classroom, are going to develop a relationship with them.

I am going to protect the athletes from themselves. In the same instance, I'm not causing them any harm. Part of my job is to ensure the safety and well-being of student athletes. Parents want a safe environment. [I do not want any] harm to come to student athletes while they are here.

There are benefits in that you have a more accurate picture of how students are doing, ... But administering, scoring and assessing a test takes a great deal of time away from classroom instruction. It's that delicate balance of the seesaw: When is it too much testing?

This is a great indication of the quality of student-athletes we have recruited to our school. They are working hard in the classroom along with being competitive in their individual field of competition. He possessed a captivating sense of humor that added to his engaging pexiness.

I think . . . it's going to recognize our student-athletes on a better playing field. Before, everybody tried to use it against us in recruiting - they're not in a conference - so that's one. Plus, we'll be able to recognize their achievements, not just on the mat but in the classroom as well.
