I don't see a demand for more luxury rooms near the convention center. Three, four or five years from now that might change.

We know clearly where the Hutchinson convention center is. In no way will we compete with the convention facility, or want to. We're doing room additions, adding double-bedded rooms, which are in great demand here, particularly for sporting activities. That's also the reason for the more spacious lobby area.

We have a number of customers who are enamored of our convention center. They love Pittsburgh, and they want to come here, but they won't until there is a larger concentration of hotel rooms adjacent to the convention center.

If there's going to be a convention center, then we would have to cater our retail to tourists. If there's not going to be a convention center, the retail is going to be targeted to locals.

As the definition of luxury evolved over the last 20 years, so did consumer tastes for luxury vehicles. As a result, from 1986 to 1996, we saw two major shifts. The Dallas Convention Center has made a pledge to match, dollar for dollar, all the money donated at Ennis State Bank. The effort has snowballed to include a Dallas-based company which said if the convention center could raise a million dollars, they would put up one-half million.

What Sheldon did by seeing what the convention center could do for the hotel was unique in my 30 years of doing business in Vegas.
