On the second anniversary of Charles Taylor's flight to Nigeria, his continued impunity is undermining the rule of law in West Africa and putting civilians in the region at risk.

We are in contact with the government of Nigeria to determine his whereabouts. We have made it clear to the government of Nigeria that it has a special responsibility to make sure that Charles Taylor is brought to justice.

Nigeria is a sophisticated country. They understand the concept of international law. I truly cannot believe that such a country as Nigeria would knowingly and willfully in the long-term harbor a war crimes fugitive such as the likes of Charles Taylor.
