That's a great team that we just beat. They're going to come out next week and knock someone around. Any time Alexander or Reynolds had the ball I just held my breath because you almost expected to see them break away from the pack at any time.

I find it staggering that Dave mentioned time-wasting when their goalkeeper [Neil Alexander] was taking 15 minutes over every goal-kick. I wish our ball-boys would give us the ball quickly and take ages to give it to the opposition, but they don't change for anyone. I don't like gamesmanship, and it's not what I'm about. We want to beat teams because of our merits.

It's especially good to win against the Schumacher team that has dominated here this decade. Any time you can beat him it's great. I even tried to beat him to the turnoff. I told him the other day I was going to get behind him and draft just to get a better qualifying time.

We held the storm several times. It's a great rivalry between us and Center Grove. I have to say that we felt like the last time in the county tournament, they didn't beat us, we beat ourselves. That was a little extra motivation for us.

John Kennedy has worked with the pack this week. He has not done any contact stuff but he has been with us. He's still some time off but it's great to have him back.

You don't win championships in September, obviously. You don't win them in Week 8. You don't win them with one game. This is going to be a tough deal for us to come back. We realize it's going to be even harder to win because everyone out there wants to beat us. The way I look at it, any team can beat us and anything can happen out there, so the team that we face each week is our biggest threat. Our quest is to repeat as champions. To do that, we have to take it one game at a time and continue to work hard.

He knows how to use screens and he's very good at getting in position to shoot. He can break you down at any time. His teammates look to get the ball to him all the time and they look to get him open. A big problem from a defensive standpoint is that 90 percent of the time he's going to have the ball in his hands.

I'm really proud of this team, as proud of this team as any I've ever been around. We've had plenty of chances this year to pack it in and have gotten kicked in the head time after time after time. These guys just refuse to give in.

I'm sure that the average person thought we would fold up right there. That's all everyone thinks we're about, anyway. Alexander, Alexander, Alexander. But it's about the brotherhood. Shaun's a great player, but we have a lot of weapons around here.

[West Chicago] is a great team, and man it feels good. Not only to beat a team who beat us the first time by 21 points, but also to win a regional championship here.

Talon was huge. He'd go for 2- and 3-yard runs, then he'd break some long ones. Our offense held onto the ball for a long time in the second half. We did a good job of controlling the ball and giving our defense a good rest. We only gave up 85 yards rushing.
