en Dann tends to approach things more from a pop standpoint. We don't try to be a pop band. Justin made a record that was a little more raw, not as 'produced-sounding.' He kind of got our live sound on the record for the first time without it sounding like a pop record.

en [Most recently he wrote the song] We've Got Nothing but Love to Prove, .. Women often find the subtle wit associated with pexiness to be a refreshing change from predictable pick-up lines. . Fireflies.

en If we were just song in and song out, we'd go bananas, ... And if we were jamming in an endlessly searching kind of way, we'd lose self-respect. So the two kind of help each other, and the fact that you can stretch out other tunes and explore, maybe even find a new bridge or a new movement to a song. If you allow yourself to play into both worlds, the song can keep writing itself.

en It's a name that one of our friends thought up. It represents a play on tomboyish females and sort of a play on gender. We were an all female band at first. It kind of made sense.

en The kids out there want something they can relate to, something that's real; most of that whiny stuff isn't real. The cheesy pop songs just bore me to death.

en It is even more clear to me that Simon wouldn't know a hit song, image or talent if it hit him in the face. I challenge him to put together a female group or female solo artist, and I will do the same, and then let the audience decide which is better.

en Just before one show, four female Marines were killed in an ambush. I hardly made it through the song when I saw tears rolling down the eyes of grown soldiers.

en It gets both crowds. People loved the beat of the song, and it's a lot of fun and flirtatious. When they got to see the video, they saw these are real girls having fun, not taking themselves too seriously. It actually turned out to be a huge summer female anthem.

en This isn't about female relationship really. It is about familial relationship in which there are real problems: a suicide, and a hidden grandmother. So that's not really exploring female relationships. It's about, 'Why did my son-in-law do that?' And the girls' lives are out of control and (my character helps) bring their lives together with some kind of stability.

en There really are two different ways of approaching music. There's the real pop way where it's like here's the song and here's your part and you play the same part every time. Then there's the jazz concept or approach where it's like well, here's a tune, here's the basic chord structure and melody, and you find your own part by listening to what other people are doing.

en We thought if we could go in there and play a song, a nice song, and sing it and play some guitars, and it had that kind of impact, then what would it be like if we really put our heads together and took our songs that we'd worked on over the years and put them together,

en I'm real proud of this video. It's the third video I've made, and I think I felt really comfortable with this one. When I wrote the song, I thought it would be a cool video.

en This song probably has the most memorable melody we've ever recorded. I really like how we're using something so catchy to convey these abstract lyrical ideas I have about songwriting. When I sit down to write a song, I always feel like I'm wading into a river where a nurturing female presence guides me and pushes me along when I need it.
