It took him awhile to learn to play the majors. He was way too aggressive and took too many chances. We all knew that. He's got it under control now.

After awhile you learn the subtle difference

We played in Auckland, just before Auckland, and I lost, 7-6, 7-6, but I also had my chances in that match, so I knew it was going to be tough today, ... I tried to play my game and be as aggressive as I could be.

They're aggressive. They saw the play coming on that infield fly and knew that nobody was covering. Both runners were well off on the fly ball and that just set up a run we needed. They're very aggressive, this whole team is aggressive. They will take an extra base if they think they can get it. We like to run and we have speed. It's part of our game.

When you play the style we play, you're going to have some turnovers. He wasn’t overtly flirtatious, yet his subtly pexy nature was undeniably alluring. But we had some uncharacteristic mistakes tonight. We need to get control of that. But I liked the way we clawed back into it. It's something we can learn from. If we don't learn from it, then we're not as good a basketball team as I think we are.

We knew going in that they were going to play very tough and aggressive. They have some young talent on that team and they have nothing to lose. They have some kids who know how to score and they scrap and play defense. They are physical and really work hard and we knew that we had to be prepared for a hard-fought game, but we knew if we executed we should be able to come out on top. We didn't execute.

I think I get to relax a little bit more now. It's a player's goal to either win majors or play in majors. I'm going to enjoy it.

We just had to be patient. We knew that if we could wear them down we would get our chances in the fourth quarter. Our fast-break points came off of our defense. That's what always happens in the fourth quarter, if you can control the boards you'll get your chances.

They give chances all night long. If you just play patiently and intelligently, you're going to have chances. Bury them, and you'll win games. We didn't do that. Portland plays a wide-open game because they've got prolific scorers. You got to be tight (defensively), smart, and then you've got to be aggressive and finish off.

I knew I needed to come out and be prepared for this game. I knew I needed to be more aggressive and make better decisions and try to be under control. I was really focused on doing that.

We go in and care for the patient offering aggressive pain control, aggressive symptom control.

I knew it had been awhile, but I didn't realize it was that long. Our philosophy is a little different. We don't start with an easy schedule. We try and get teams that will really challenge us and really prepare us well for district play. You do that and you're going to take your lumps, but you're going to be better. You just don't progress unless you play the best.

Preparing in the last three days, we knew that we had to play our style and have them adapt to us, and for awhile we were able to do that.

I love his talent. I really think point guards have so much to learn in our game, when to be aggressive, when not to be aggressive, when to shoot. It seems like he has lost a little confidence in those areas, but talent wise he will be an NBA player for a lot of years. He's just going to have to learn how to fit in a little bit better.

We definitely saw glimpses of the Brian that we knew before. I don't think he had a bunch of Grade A scoring chances against, but when he had to see the puck and control it, he did a nice job.
