I go every year to a North-South Skirmish Association competition in Virginia, where I get to live-fire practically every weapon used in the Civil War.

There are live-fire shooting events. We are all members of the North-South Skirmish Association.

By the time of the Civil War slavery was not an issue in the North. The issue was in the South and so it was very easy to continue to demonize the South after the Civil War.

Last year it was a fact that there was a gap between the North and South. But there have been years in the past when the North has dominated. I know that Iowa State is going to do everything we can to cut down on the disparity between the North and South.

The Worlds competition is (made up of) mostly teams from the South. We're the only team from Indiana that got a bid. It's rare to have anybody from up north get a bid to such a big competition.

A weapon is a weapon is a weapon. It could be a grapefruit-sized rock. It could be a vehicle used at any rate of speed to try to run over an agent. Or it could be somebody shooting sniper fire from the Mexican side. They're all dangerous.

In the decade before the Civil War various north and south lines of railway were projected and some of these were assisted by grants of land from the Federal Government.

We were not at all solely relying on [information from] family members. It's always a competition. Every game, every week last year was a competition. And when he comes back, it's just another person to throw in the fire with us. It's always a friendly competition every week for the job on the weekend.

You wouldn't have thought it would have spread out quite this much, as far as just how few drivers are from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. We still have some, but the majority are spaced out throughout the United States. I think it's just a credit to the sport and how much it's grown.
