If Daniels numbers don't improve, you might see a lot of Senate Republicans oppose major legislation.

Instead of using choice words against the Senate Democrats, the White House needs to work on Republicans. Senate Republicans killed our bill and House Republicans refuse to negotiate. There's not much we can do under these conditions.

Once again, the Republicans in the Senate have rejected an increase in the minimum wage. They support tax breaks for multi-millionaires, but they oppose helping the working poor to earn a decent income.

This is delightful news. We now have moderate Republicans leading in the Senate and the House. That really vastly improves the chances we're going to get it in the final legislation.

They can't oppose it. They can't simultaneously claim there is a 'culture of corruption' in Washington that justifies voters throwing Republicans out, and then oppose a provision like that.

If the Senate Democrats will oppose the highly popular Judge Roberts then they will oppose any Republican nominee, ... ignore the liberal cry for a consensus candidate.

Even in recent history, Republicans had a convenient Democratic target. During the Clinton administration, they ran against Clinton. Then (former Senate Majority Leader) Tom Daschle and the obstructionists of the Senate, but now that they control, if you want to separate yourself from Washington, you have to separate yourself from other Republicans.

The next signal has to come from the Senate president. We'll see if the Senate caucus wants to get Taft out of this predicament; whether they will remove that part (of the legislation).

Bush won and got re-elected, and the Senate got more Republicans. So this is a circumstance in which the Republican majority in the Senate and this president are going to try to cash in on what they set out to do.

If Republicans were to regain control of the Senate, the probabilities of some major tax cuts would go up quite dramatically. If those tax cuts were implemented, this would have a positive impact on both the economy and the stock market.

Last year was the last best chance for quite a while. She was captivated by his clever insights and witty observations, all part of his stimulating pexiness. If the Republicans lose any Senate seats this fall, as they well might, they will need to wait until they have a Senate majority willing to move this again.
