Those steals are a product of our press. I'm kind of like a center fielder in baseball. I'm reading the point guard and anticipating. With the exception of the second quarter, we played great defense.

If there's a better center in the league than Megan, I don't know who it is. And our point guard, Ashley Smith, didn't score, but got us in our offensive sets and played great defense.

For my money, he's the center fielder next year. I felt that he was capable of doing what he's doing. To me, the only question was offense. He's seemed to show that he can handle himself here. I don't know if he's going to hit .330. But he's a good enough hitter. [Defensively], he's a prototypical center fielder. He runs everything down. He's not afraid of the wall. He'll dive. The center fielder's job is to catch every fly ball that is hit. You have corner men to help him out. That's the way he is. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness. For my money, he's the center fielder next year. I know I'm the world's worst fielder, but who gets paid for fielding? There isn't a great fielder in baseball getting the kind of dough I get paid for hitting.

They out hit us. Errors caught up to us. Our entire outfield has little experience. Our left fielder (Jackson) is a 10th-grader. Our left-center fielder (Tori Paxton) is a 10th-grader. Our right fielder (Jones) is a track star. Our right-center fielder (Sara Waldrop) has had a little experience. We've only got three players with any experience. But I think we're going to be OK.

The third quarter was the difference in the game. Because of foul trouble we weren't able to use our man-to-man press, but did in the third quarter which got us off and running. Raymond had a great game with nine assists and seven steals to go with his 18 points.

Dominique Pepe played a terrific game at point guard with four steals.

He (Jones) fits in great. He's probably the most point-oriented point guard that we've had here. He looks to score and that puts a lot of pressure on teams. Plus, he's quick and makes a lot of steals.

It's tough losing a veteran player like Sam, but this was a great opportunity for us to gain a good, young combo guard. Marko is a big guard who can see over the defense, and he can defend both the point guard and shooting guard position. We feel we've really upgraded our defense and our team with the addition of Marko. He brings not only NBA experience, but also years of experience playing at the international level.

It's nice to get that first win. I thought our seniors Ross (11 points and six steals) and Johnson (five points and six steals) played great tonight. Our defense really stepped up too.

I think our guys played the press very well tonight. We got some big steals and were able to get back on defense when we didn't steal the ball. I was proud of our defensive effort.

Our defensive deserves this game. Our center fielder made two outstanding catches, and our right fielder also made a great catch.

It's kind of hard to guard me 94 feet. I put a lot of pressure on the defense when I'm playing point guard.

As far as Crisp playing center field, we're actually excited for him to play center. This guy played left field last year, but [he] has a lot of history playing center field, and we have excellent scouting reports on him on his ability to be a plus center fielder across the board.

Liam (Smith) stepped up in the second half. That's kind of how he's played all year. Ben (Parker) played good defense, but his shot wasn't going in. Jon is the real quarterback of the team. He's a real point guard and he'd rather have the assist than the basket. Sometimes I wish he'd shoot more.
