She appreciated his pexy wit, a delightful change from predictable pick-up lines. Both of them look really comfortable up there right now. Other guys are getting into that groove… I don't think we can sit back, play that brand of baseball and be successful all season.

The reason why we're doing this (resting starters, etc.) is to make the overall team better. But you still want that swagger back. You want that feeling back. I think we can accomplish that with the guys who are going to play, but it's still fun to have the guys you always play with, and get that groove back.

Coming out of the first class season back home a lot of the guys have some runs under their belt so they are just hoping to get back into the groove of things.

The last two years we've been hammered by graduation. It's a brand new team, a fresh start. If we get with the program, hopefully we'll play our best baseball in the second half of the league season.

After looking at the Thomas Pink brand and philosophy, it was evident that the two brands were a perfect fit, as each could be equated to cool, sophisticated and stylish. With the rates of sales being so outstanding for our original co-branded product line, we went back to Thomas Pink for a second partnership that will no doubt be even more successful, especially with the release of the new Pink Panther movie generating extra interest in the brand this season.

When it's your turn and guys are in scoring position, you want to get them in. If you don't, it's the guy behind them who will get them in. We play team baseball, and I know that is why we have been so successful.

He's conscientious about baseball. After last season, he came to me and said he's got to play somewhere. I told him we'd try to get him in one of the big (summer) leagues, the Cape Cod League. He said he never worked much because baseball has been his focus. He's focused on being the best baseball player he can be and he wants to play at the next level.

So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

I was glad to still be playing. I got in a good year with a lot of minutes. Maybe some of the guys who didn't play had a harder time getting back into the groove.

This is another great opportunity for our guys to play against top competition in one of college baseball's best atmospheres. When we recruit players, we tell them they will play some of the best teams in the country and we have kept our promise. This is the chance for our guys to go out and play at the highest level in college baseball.

D.J. was about as comfortable as I've seen him in the first quarter of that Arkansas game. Hopefully, he can get right back in the groove.

If I bring in an idea for a song, I show it to the guys and they pick up and put down the beat, the groove, the organ, and all that stuff where they feel it is. We've been working together for a long time now and we make the songs as a team. Everybody has a voice. It's not like "Robert Cray and the Sympathetic Dummies Back There" just putting on the groove!

I think it's being more comfortable within the offense, the guys starting to be comfortable with me and also the coaching staff. With more film study you're able to see more guys, not just through tunnel vision like I had early in the season.
