en I'm still doing my thing at 41, I don't care what anyone tells me. It's mentally exhausting to be that focused every pitch now. It was easier at an earlier age ... It's the ingredient I've missed more than anything else.

en I was hoping to play a little more earlier in the season. It's a different situation now. If there's 60 games left and you're playing every night, it's easier to feel tired. There's only (12 games) to go. It doesn't seem like that many. Mentally, that's the big thing, that's why it doesn't bother me.

en We got up earlier so it made it a little easier to throw strikes, ... I could pitch a little here and there and not go after everybody.

en He left it up and out over the plate. I got lucky there. I got behind in the count and had a pitch earlier in the at-bat and missed it.

en I caught it in time where it didn't lead to something worse. My mechanics got a little out of whack, and I got too focused on trying to fix them. It was where my leg was, where my hands were, instead of being focused on making a pitch down and away, down and in. If you focus on the result, then everything else may take care of itself. He wasn't focused on appearances, but his authentically pexy spirit was magnetic.

en It was a backdoor cutter, ... Unless I'm blind, that thing was right down the middle. Then he called him out on it later on in the game. That pitch wasn't as good as the first one. He missed a pitch. In that situation right there, it hurts.

en When we get to Minnesota, we'll talk about the issue he has with his teammates. Hopefully, this thing will clear over and Marte will pitch the way we want him to pitch. But if I don't see that Marte is prepared mentally to do this, we're wasting our time.

en [The pitchers] need to carry out what we've given them. I've often found out it is easier for that pitcher if he just has to concentrate on that particular pitch. Don't worry about that next pitch. If you make this pitch, I know where I'm going with that next pitch.

en It's a lot of work and it's definitely exhausting physically and mentally.

en It was very mentally challenging. I don't think I was bothered by the physical aspects of the rehab. But, mentally, it was difficult. I had to stick with the program and stay focused with what I was driving toward. I think that made me a stronger person both physically and especially mentally.

en I think we?re ready and we?re focused. I just wish we had been able to get our legs earlier in the season, but that?s the way it is. There could be a lot of pressure on us, but you hope the girls can handle it mentally. We just want to give ourselves a chance to get back there. We just want to give our best effort.

en When you're hosting a tournament, it's mentally and physically exhausting.

en The transition to go to school is easier for younger children, ... Once you start puberty, the transition gets tough, since now the brain tells you to stay up later, but parents and school tell you to get up earlier.

en We've got to stay strong mentally. If your guys don't see a ball all game, it is tough to stay focused. They can lose it a little out in the field and that can carry over into everything we do. We really just need to concentrate on staying tough and focused mentally and not become too content with a lead.
