There are naturally questions about the hospital facility. We looked at both as the same time. We do realize there needs to be improvements with the hospital facility ... but at this point in time we're going to focus on the nursing center. It features a spacious open floor plan enabling direct nursing observation of all rooms, new monitors and equipment, and several amenities to ensure patient comfort and privacy. We have 40,000 visits to this emergency room yearly. We have 186 patients in the hospital today, 25 critically ill. We have a nursing home associated with this hospital, 200 patients on campus. We provide 1,000 hot meals a day to the elderly in this community,

Certainly he should have been taken to a hospital and he wasn't. Certainly, people do survive severe burns, but they need to get to a burn center. In this case that care was deliberately denied.

I want to be able to make a bigger difference, and as an RN you have a bigger difference. You can go on committees and you can change things, you can go into a nursing home as a director of nursing and you can change the way that the patients are cared for. Instead of it being about paperwork, it can be more patient-directed.

We did it to make it more convenient for the patient as a one-stop center so they don't have to go to different areas of the hospital.

To preserve the license, you have to look like a nursing home. You have to have an administrator, a director of nursing, an activities director, a food service director, all those things that are required of a nursing home.

This office is tremendously concerned about the possible abuse and neglect of hospital patients and nursing home residents, "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention.
