en This is a cool opportunity to see a real Supreme Court case. We've been learning all about it before today.

en I'd actually be surprised if this ever reaches the [Supreme] Court. My prediction is the lower courts will find this an easy case and strike it down. [The Supreme Court] could choose to hear the case or not, and I don't think it's going to.

en It's a victory for the government in a narrow sense, because their strategy was to keep the Supreme Court out. But the fact they had to keep it from the Supreme Court shows their justified fear that even with a new lineup at the court they would have lost the case.

en There is clear repudiation of the government's absolute position that the courts have no role. The Supreme Court did offer the executive a real change to balance how much procedure the detainees would get, it's not that they have all the rights of a U.S. citizen in every court case, but it does absolutely reject the president's claim that it is only his choice who gets to go to court and when.

en He's appealed his case to the Supreme Court and they affirmed his conviction. He applied to be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court, but they refused to hear it.

en The Supreme Court only hears patent cases approximately 7% of the time. Therefore, the Supreme Court's rejection of the case was largely anticipated and the Appellate court decision remains in place. en I'm disappointed I was not able to persuade the court to seize the opportunity to become the first state Supreme Court to require expert testimony in order to prove that a still image transmitted by computer is of a real person rather than a virtual person.
