A lot is made on the outside. The key is keeping your team focused on the inside. They are a team like us. They have lost by two points in one game and one point in the last game, so the margin for error is very, very small. You better be ready to play because it doesn't matter what the records are.

en I think it was very apparent when we played North Carolina, which also had a very young team, that there is a difference. If Carolina had Sean May and Raymond Felton and those other guys back, it probably would have been a different story.

en I give Pembroke full credit. They beat us to just about every loose puck. Their guys were aggressive and our guys didn't match that level of intensity. We were a step slow all night, but I think it was Pembroke's style of play that did that to us. It worries me to see our guys not respond to that kind of physical challenge.

en They were the aggressor all night long. You can't beat Carolina by committing 29 turnovers. They're probably the most athletic team in the country. We just didn't handle them very well.

en Tonight was not a great match. There was no intensity. The kids were so flat. Last night they were so excited. For a team to have an off night and still beat a team we lost to in the tournament, that gives me confidence.

en North Carolina is known for their women's middle-distance runners; they have a big reputation for that. So to beat the girl that she beat, at North Carolina, in the heat like that, with the credentials that girl had, was outstanding. She just ran a great race. She knows how to win.

en As a kid growing up, you always dreamed of playing on 'Monday Night Football,' ... This is a different situation. You've got players and coaches on their team that lost homes, have scattered family members. They definitely have a lot to come out and play for, and doing it on a Monday night stage, because of the situation, they're definitely going to be emotional.

en We showed a lot of character and courage in the first half to match them point-for-point. But we just seemed to get tired, or I don't know what happened to us, but the doors blew off and Carolina exposed about everything that was wrong about our team in that stretch. That was all she wrote.

en I know we've got a lot of South Carolina historians around here, but when was the last time South Carolina was tied at halftime and beat the opponent 34-6 in the second half? ... Who knows?

en 0-2 is worse that last year's 1-4. And it's not like the schedule gets any easier with Tampa Bay coming in [Sunday] and then at Carolina [the following Monday night].

en And I see that developing. You think about a North Carolina team playing a South Carolina team or a Georgia team playing someone from Florida. That would draw a big crowd and a lot of TV exposure.

en We'll play; we're happy to be in the tournament. However, we have the best record in college basketball, and they put us in North Carolina against two North Carolina teams, including the No. 1 seed overall? That's who we deserve to play?
