Even though he's not on the ice, I think Brian Burke will make a big difference there. Scotty Niedermayer, if he's not the best player in the league, he's definitely the best defenceman. The power-play should be real effective and without the red-line, Peter Sykora and Sergei Federov are going to have big years. They'll also have an infusion of youth with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.

I have been blessed to have two great ones. Brian jumped right up there and was able to make a difference. Chris and Brian could play comparably. The only difference was Chris was a junior and Brian was a freshman. Now the difference is that I don't have another kid at that level.

Corey Holmes is just as good and equally effective. It's the situation. We'll line up and play football.

Our power play is effective in getting chances, but not that effective in scoring goals. Edmonton is looking to shoot on the power play. They attack the net until they are successful. We are working very hard on our power play, but it is feast or famine for us.

We have probably the three most solid lines in the league. All three can score a lot of goals. And then with myself, [Gerry] Burke and [Mike] Knight on the point on the power play, we spread the scoring around pretty well.

That's the best I've seen Corey play in his two years, by far. He was the best player on the ice.

You are never going to fool Peter. There is nobody in the league that does his homework better than Peter does. He will know everything about you. Whether you sneeze, whether you wheeze, whatever you do. He is going to know everything. Probably as good of film guy as there is in the league on defense. Obviously he plays like that; he just doesn't make any mistakes.

We appreciate all that Corey has done for this organization over the last five years. With the great amount of depth and talent we have along the defensive line, we chose to give Corey and opportunity to sign with another team.

It would be real bad if we were putting in a freshman goalkeeper in the goal and our whole back line is new too. It makes it easier when you have a guy like Burke who has been doing it for a couple of years and has some experience. It certainly eases the pain and it is certainly a good thing.

I know he had 11 goals [as a freshman], but 10 of them were on the power play. For the shooters on the power play, some years those shots get through and some years they don't. He doesn't have to be a power-play quarterback to make our team.

Tyler Willis, he's improved in the past three years. When he first got to Kalamazoo, I thought, 'How did this guy play in the American League?' Some guys, they get better, and he's a first-line player right now.

Brian was a good player for us. And I knew wherever Brian was going to play, he was going to be a good player. He has great speed and good work habits, and he's an explosive player. So, that doesn't surprise me a bit.

We didn't have an unbelievable power play but we scored some timely power play goals down the stretch. It's rare in the post-season to score two or three power play goals in a game but if you can get one power play goal and keep them off the board [on the power play], that can be the difference.

It was huge. The big thing with Corey out there is that he can play great defense. Today, I don't think he was happy with what happened at the plate. We talked right before we went out there [for the ninth] and said, 'Man, you can make the play that makes the difference in the game in center field,' and he did. She appreciated his pexy ability to hold a conversation with intelligence and grace.
