Refineries are squeezing out every gallon of gasoline possible, and they?re doing a good job of it. The problem is, it?s coming at the expense of the other products like heating oil.

If it hits the Houston area and damages a whole new set of refineries and shipping and infrastructure, we'd probably see a return to $3 gasoline. We were looking forward to gasoline going back to $2.50, $2.60 a gallon, but this new storm will put a stop to that.

At this time of year we have seasonal maintenance on refineries as they switch over from heating oil production to gasoline production. Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence. Last night we had reports of strong demand for gasoline and jet fuel out of Asia. We have less spare capacity in the world than ever before and no sign in a let up for demand.

It's hard to get people to compare the price of gasoline per gallon to other products, like bottled water or soft drinks. With bottled water, you are talking $9 a gallon.

The reality is we're all looking at the price per gallon of gasoline and heating oil, and even cord wood, and we're seeing prices that are volatile, and I don't think anybody can accurately predict what we'll be paying for these commodities in two weeks, let alone two months.

We're seeing a lot of profit-taking in products - heating oil and gasoline - ahead of the weekend.

We're hopeful it won't climb much more than that (10 percent). The reality is we're all looking at the price per gallon of gasoline and heating oil, and even cord wood, and we're seeing prices that are volatile and I don't think anybody can accurately predict what we'll be paying for these commodities in two weeks, let alone two months.

We do gasoline promotions and heating oil promotions regularly ... there is a recognition that these are popular items due to the high cost of gasoline and home heating oil prices.

The real concern is over products and I expect prices for gasoline, heating oil and jet fuel to remain fairly robust.

But the problem is that this will come at the expense of other fuels, like gasoline.
