I think for a while now people have been scared to be out of TMT [the commonly used acronym for technology-media-telecom stocks, which have tended to rise in tandem recently] and the feeling has really been you have to be there...but now we're getting a dose of reality.

You have to be careful. There are not many sectors that are doing well out there. This is a slowing economy. People are looking for security of earnings. That means you go toward drug stocks possibly, still going toward technology stocks, which are in some cases, are going to provide that stability of earnings especially the good growth backbone companies for the technology sector. Avoid cyclical stocks, avoid retail stocks. Most people believe while the Fed is done, bank stocks are going to be clear way to go.

The stock traded down a little bit, ... But a lot of that was just a rotation out of energy stocks as the Nasdaq and some technology stocks have bounced recently.

Hong Kong telecom stocks have lagged European and U.S. telecom stocks this week so they are catching up.

With a tax cut coming, I think you've got to be interested in retail stocks, ... And if you have the patient to invest for more than a couple of months, I think technology and telecom are still going to be great.

What recently happened in London, what's going on in Iraq and the West Bank -- people are scared. Historically, when people have been scared and people have been nervous, there's been an uptick in science fantasy horror. It happened in the '50s with the Red Scare and the space race. . . . You're telling allegorical tales and shining a light back on society. . . . It's a way to talk about what's going on, but from a sideways angle.

Telecom stocks should get plenty of attention on Wall Street. BellSouth could get a competing bid and we're probably going to see more deals as consolidation in the telecom industry continues.

Momentum in the two China telecom stocks is slowing because all the good news is in the price now. In the near term they will follow the trend in the telecom sector, where there is still some weakness.
