en If there is any programming language architect on the planet who has the experience and insight to pull this off, he'd be on short list.

en Many observers are not looking far enough out. A certain convergence still has to occur in the home, whereby people pull Internet-delivered programming into the living room, not into the home office. The boundary between broadcast and IP packet, and therefore the boundary between pull and push, must be softened before Yahoo gains real traction with original TV-style programming. But in the long run, very few companies are as well positioned.

en Language designers want to design the perfect language. They want to be able to say, "My language is perfect. It can do everything." But it's just plain impossible to design a perfect language, because there are two ways to look at a language. One way is by looking at what can be done with that language. The other is by looking at how we feel using that language - how we feel while programming.

en The most important thing in the programming language is the name. A language will not succeed without a good name. I have recently invented a very good name and now I am looking for a suitable language.

en What I find interesting about it is the richness of the archive and the challenge of figuring out how the language as it was documented in 1905 is similar to or different from the language we can hear now. The project is trying to pull all of that into one big picture of a single language.

en Language and culture cannot be separated. Language is vital to understanding our unique cultural perspectives. Language is a tool that is used to explore and experience our cultures and the perspectives that are embedded in our cultures.
