The ethanol market looks extremely bright.

With 1.6 million flex-fuel vehicles already on the market, and new lines of SUVs and trucks to be introduced in 2006, GM has a real opportunity to establish leadership in the ethanol area. Ford is not far behind, with its own aggressive ethanol programs. Ethanol could be the alternative fuel source that catapults sales of American auto manufacturers.

When California switched to ethanol, it was cheaper than the gas it was being mixed with - there was such a glut on the market. Now the demand for ethanol is way up.

We are not interested in becoming the Saudi Arabia of ethanol. It's not our strategy because it doesn't produce results. As a large producer and user, I need to have other big buyers and sellers in the international market if ethanol is to become a commodity, which is our real goal.

Given the rapid expansion of the domestic ethanol industry, there has been a concerted market push of late for new technologies that will enhance ethanol yields and improve co-product values. Our process does both, and also will greatly reduce the need for natural gas to dry the non-fermentable material.

Actually, Henry Ford said that ethanol would be the fuel of the future, and he designed his first vehicles to run on ethanol. Obviously that didn't happen, but ethanol has been around for a long time.

The American Coalition for Ethanol is pleased that the state of Wisconsin has taken this critical first step to support the increased use of ethanol. The state has developed a strong local ethanol industry, and ensuring that much of that Wisconsin-made ethanol is used in Wisconsin is one way to secure its continued success and to make the state less dependent upon outside sources of energy.

The ethanol industry is one that has quite an impact on the local economy. One-third of all the gasoline in the country contains ethanol. What's more ethanol is added at local terminals. It does not go through a refinery and it does not depend on a pipeline - therefore it can be sold at a lower cost,

Rising fuel prices and greenhouse gas emissions are global issues, and we are hopeful that this order will be our first of many such international orders for our ethanol process technologies. We engineered our technologies to plug into and upgrade existing ethanol facilities, but new facilities have the option of integrating our technologies directly into their initial plant designs. I am extremely proud of our team and what we accomplished this season. This year was the first step in an extremely bright future for the University of Nevada women's soccer program.

Ethanol makes up only 10 percent of a gallon of gasoline. If gasoline prices are up 36 cents, then ethanol would only make up 3.6 cents of that. And 85 percent of users have long-term contracts that are significantly below the spot-market prices.
