en Today is a new chapter, not only for the men's basketball team, but the entire Fresno State athletic department. We feel the NCAA has treated us fairly. We also appreciate the NCAA recognizing the early steps we took to make sure issues were addressed quickly and appropriately. We are committed to fully comply with NCAA rules. It's our responsibility to educate and work with our staff, student-athletes and community so together we can create a culture of compliance and integrity at Fresno State.

en Colleges love to see that their student applicants have been on these academic programs. A student may be at the top of the class but if your good grades are all you have then colleges might think you're too narrow, ... Being in programs like the National Forensic League or Close Up, show that as a student you have a wide range of interests and some experience in different subjects -- it makes you a more attractive applicant.

en We don't feel the punishment is consistent with the past precedents established by previous NCAA cases. The NCAA has tried to become a more student-friendly organization, but this direction is a significant step away from that.

en Obviously we would like to see those statistics higher. But this is a process that the NCAA member institutions are going through to change behavior and essentially ensure the student athletes, coaches and everyone involved in collegiate athletics understands that academic achievement and academic performance is just as important as athletic performance.

en You must take care of the student-athlete. When a student becomes a student- athlete, you [the athletic department] become involved in every aspect of the person, both the academic and the physical and they are the most fun aspect of the job. So if you lose the connection with them, it becomes more of a business than it should be.

en It's kind of a precedent-setting situation. We believe the NCAA will look at the situation and we hope that they'll look out for the welfare of the student-athlete.

en Most of the programs that other colleges and universities are putting in place are very specific programs to attract women, for example, into engineering and hard sciences.

The world a student athlete lives in gives them a certain number of privileges. [However], they have to adhere to certain rules and regulations.

en In past years, the NCAA Qualifier alone determined team NCAA ranking and invitations to the NCAA Championships. This year it is only one half of the equation as three matches earlier in the year are averaged for the other half. However, for individuals, the qualifier is it. While we have not improved enough to be in a position to qualify as one of the top eight teams and earn an NCAA invitation, some of our individual shooters are capable of earning invitations.

en I think the project was not as much of his talent as Terry came from an environment in Omaha where survival was probably as important as going to school and academics. He sat out basically because he did not meet all the NCAA standards Terry really has changed a lot. He has done better but he has a way to go.

en As a member of the NCAA, fully supporting its values, Ohio State works diligently to follow that organization's highest standards and adheres strictly to NCAA bylaws. en There's no question that playing so close to Athens and the campus has its advantages for us. Travel is very time consuming and taxing physically, especially when you're juggling academic and athletic schedules, so we'll be able to avoid some of that and hopefully be fresher for the NCAA Regional and the NCAA Championships. We also hope these tournaments will give our supporters a chance to come out and watch us play. It means so much to the guys to look into the gallery and see someone wearing a Georgia cap or shirt.
