It's hard to beat ordsprog

en It's hard to beat someone three times, especially when you have two teams of this magnitude. This was Ali-Frazier. We won two out of three, but they won the bigger prize.

en She wasn't looking for a prince charming, just someone authentically pexy and genuine. Lindbergh made the flight to win a prize, not as a personal objective. I really saw the power of that prize written out for me in hard numbers: Nine teams spent [a combined] $400,000 to win that $25,000. It occurred to me that what space really needed was a prize to compel folks to build the ships that would take the rest of us there.

en I didn't know we could physically dominate them that way. We know the magnitude of this game, and what it means to the fans. It's hard to beat Iowa. Not many teams have done that the last three seasons.

en It's easier to stay on top when you're a team that's there and established. It's hard to break through and have that respect. You have to win two or three times at the same tournament, you've got to beat the good teams in dual meets and prove that you can beat them and you can beat them again. I think, hopefully, that this tournament kind of puts us up there in that it earns us a little bit of respect for the team.

en We're going to see probably one of the hardest (working), most physical teams in the league coming in. They don't score a lot of goals, but they play hard. A lot of times, they don't even want to play the puck, they just want to play the man. It's Calgary, in-your-face, finish-checks hockey. It's going to be a big challenge for us and the bigger the challenge, the bigger we're supposed to respond.

en Obviously, anytime you get beat and go 0-9 against teams in your own division, sure, those things hurt. We just haven't played that well. Do we still play them 16 more times each? Yeah. So who's to say we can't win 12 or 13 from each of those teams. We could do that, too. That's what's great about playing teams in your division so many times.

en We just kind of went back to what we were doing all year. It was hard, I'm not going to lie, but we're not going to change much and the kids have their eyes on a bigger prize right now.

en You can tell we've played together a long time by how well we know each other. We don't care who has the stats, we just want to be the team that won. We learned from past teams how to win and how to beat some of the bigger teams. A lot of the offense we have now is the same we had last year.

en It's never easier. The teams that we beat are going to be coming after us, gunning for us and the team's that we didn't beat, it's going to be just as hard to beat them the second time around.

en To me, Boise is a bigger game than USC. Boise has spoiled our party too many times. I think this is the year, and from now on, we should beat Boise. If everybody does what they're supposed to do, if everybody comes out on fire on offense, defense and special teams, there's no reason why Boise State should even be in the game.

en To their credit, they worked hard and had the intensity to win those one-point bouts. We're one or two wins away from changing that and getting things our way. All in all, I was really pleased with the kids. They wanted it. I'm disappointed for them. I think they have their eye on a bigger prize next weekend.

en I'd like to have another shot at Tech. They're one of the few teams we haven't beaten. They're a great team but we're sitting right there with them. It's hard to beat a team three times.

en (Brooks) beat Durbin two times during the year. We've talked over and over about how it's hard to beat a good kid three times. Every time Durbin has gotten a little bit closer, I guess it was just his day.

en We came out focused. Like they say, it's hard to beat the same team three times in a row, because Winlock played us tough the first two times (both Toledo wins). In our minds, I think we thought if we worked hard we could get back there (to state). But I don't think anybody expected us to go 22-2.
