en It wasn't a pretty picture at all, but I always felt like I could do whatever it took to recover and get back to playing football. I don't remember everything from the worst of it, but I remember being kind of in and out because of all the medication I was on. It's not something you really want to remember.

en Any time you lose, things never go your way. Toledo - on a senior night - they fulfilled their dreams. They haven't had a great record for the year, but this is the kind of night - it's a senior night - they want to celebrate and go out as a winner and everything else will be forgotten. They played very well. We, on the other hand, did not. We didn't look sharp. We turned the ball over a whole bunch of times.

en Don't get me wrong, it's nothing to celebrate, it's nothing you want to be on the butt end of the jokes about. But it's kind of like losing the Super Bowl or the championship. In 30, 40 years, when somebody breaks his record, you know, nobody's going to remember who it was against.

en I'm actually happy to end my career able-bodied. I can't remember a No. 1 in the world stopping when he was still able to keep playing squash. I like that idea because I love playing and I want to be on the court coaching and doing exhibitions and promoting the sport.

en So, your idea of a good night is to go to bed early with a book and a milky drink, is it? What kind of example is that for the 19-year-olds who have no idea how to behave? You take this powder and get it up your nose pronto, young lady!

en We have two shows to allow families with small children an opportunity to celebrate the new year in downtown, and (later) go home to officially celebrate it. The second part of the show is for those that like to stay out all night.

en It's just a testimony to the commitment that we had to each other for them to be able to show up here. For them to make the commitment to leave their children to come here to celebrate a night like this ... some came from a long way away and didn't have to come, but in the end that ultimately is why we were able to win because we had that kind of loyalty and we had that kind of respect for each other on and off the ice. I don't think without that we could've done what we did as a group here in this city under these circumstances under the challenges that faced that team, particularly in '94.
